An illegal alien in Polk County Florida who got pulled over in a routine traffic stop ended up ‘executing’ the deputy who stopped him. The deputy was shot eight times, including once behind his right ear at close range. Another deputy was wounded and a police dog killed. A state-wide manhunt ensued. The murderer was found hiding in a wooded area and as soon as he took a shot at the SWAT team, officers opened fire on him. They hit the guy 68 times.
Naturally, the liberal media went nuts and asked why they had to shoot the poor undocumented immigrant 68 times.
Sheriff Grady Judd told the Orlando Sentinel: ‘Because that’s all the ammunition we had.‘ Now, is that just about the all-time greatest answer or what!
The Coroner also reported that the illegal alien died of natural causes. When asked by a reporter how that could be since there were 68 bullet wounds in his body, he simply replied “when you are shot 68 times you are naturally gonna die.”
He died of lead poisoning.

I heard that one about, 'ran out of ammo' in high school in 1967. Still a goodie, though, admittedly.
It's mostly true, according to Snopes. Snopes dosen't mention the "natural causes" point, though.

Any invention in a good enough story undermines the thrust. I think it’s completely inappropriate for an LEO to make a joke about a fatal shooting. Like I said, I heard that quip in high school. I gotta admit if I was in the sheriff’s position I’da been tempted...

America has declared war against Mexico, it won’t be announced by the President because he lacks the cojones.
About 3 months later I was waiting for my car to be serviced and was watching the news on the TV at the dealership.
There was an older black couple in the waiting room watching as well.
Then a news flash came on about an armed robbery at a local convenience store with the store clerk being shot.
Cut to an interview with Sheriff Grady Judd, "We will not rest until we have the thugs responsbile for this in our custody."
The black couple both sort of chuckled and the man said, "Those boys might as well just turn themselves in now. They've gone and pissed off Sheriff Grady."
And last month, two Polk County deputies were shot after they had stopped a man on a bicycle in a crime-ridden section of Lakeland. The deputies survived because of the vests but the suspect died at the scene.
Sheriff Judd afterwards: "This suspect fit the mode," said Sheriff Judd, adding, "I can tell you this, it was a bad night but it was a good night. Anytime you engage a man in a firefight and he's got a large caliber weapon and you win and he loses, that's a good day for the sheriff's office.

And I don't think the coroner's quote is correct.
At the coroner's inquest, the jury opined that the dead guy committed suicide. The judge blew up, asking how they could come to that decision. The foreman replied that anyone who used a pistol against a rifleman was committing suicide. The verdict stuck.
