I know there are lots of prayer warriors AND animal lovers here at FR, and I'd like to request prayers of healing for my beloved cat Moose who is VERY sick right now. :*(

Late Saturday night I had to rush Moose to the emergency animal clinic here, thinking he'd had a stroke because we'd been gone for 5 weeks to India (a LONG story of "Murphy's Law" and extreme stress for me) and since we'd never been separated that long before (had him since he was 2 months old and rejected by his mother) because his hind legs were weak and not working properly. Turns out he was in renal failure, from dehydradation (even though we had professional petsitters/housesitters while we were gone), and anemic, which accounted for the weakness which I thought was a stroke. On duty vet called the situation "grim" because his BUN/Creatinine numbers were very high. (*guilt kicks in because I was so busy unpacking from our trip, dealing with toddlers, 'traveler's tummy' and jet lag I wasn't paying better attention to Moose!*) I had him admitted for the remainder of the weekend so he could be on IV fluids, they could get his blood levels back to normal, etc. Called to check on him Sunday morning and the same vet answered, he seemed a *bit* more positive (but reinforced that Moose might NOT recover from this crisis) since Moose had a good night, was alert, sitting up and looking around and responding to people around him. There was no sign of any infection or anything, thank goodness. He told me that cats stress out emotionally pretty easily (which I knew) and since we were separated for 35 days (never been away from each other that long) that added to his stress, which caused physical stress, the domino effect. Not to mention the stress that *I've* been under worrying about him and Pebbles (including the "Murphy's Law" trip that would make a novel!) for the past 5 weeks since we had VERY limited internet/phone access)!
In a few hours, I'm to pick Moose up and transfer him over to our regular vet. My last check on him at the hospital Sunday evening, the vet on duty said he was doing well but we really need to see his kidney numbers (BUN, creatinine (?) coming down. He'll never be 'cured' but he can recover from this episode. Apparently there are easy (though time consuming) treatments for cats with this condition, not much different from giving cats insulin injections when they are diabetic. Not sure if that's where we are headed til we talk to the reg. vet but after researching online it sounds 'do-able' to me.
Please say a little prayer for Moose and me and our situation. I know that God loves us BOTH, please pray for healing for Moose, and me, for the extreme stress I've been under (the trip could be a novel and I'm having night terrors now, yikes!) and guilt I feel for this happening to 'my furbaby', and for guidance in knowing what to do about his future situation. Thank you all in advance.

Prayers for Moose. CRF is all too common in cats. It sounds like you might be headed toward administering subcutaneous fluids to make him feel better and bring down his numbers. You might check out the website www.felinecrf.com for lots of information, advice and supportive people.

Prayers up for Moose. The thing that will help him heal the most is being back with you and the family.

Prayers for Moose. My 8y/o Siamese was diagnosed with CRF last November. Since then I have been taking him to Vet once a week for sub-cutaneous fluids. It takes about 5-10 mins to administer. This can also be done at home. There will be good days and bad. It is an emotional roller coaster. I encourage you not to give up as long as your Moose is not suffering. Also, it will help you a great deal if you search the internet for "feline CRF" and learn all you can about the disease.
I hope everything works out for Moose.

I have had numerous cats, one, gray kitty, was with me 14 years, and she went off into the woods one day and never returned.
I know the love one has for her kitty, and the pain one feels at their loss.
My prayers are with you

Prayers for Moose and you. I had a friend and her cat never did well with a separation. I guess the stress and anxiety overwhelms them. I bet he will start doing much better once he is home with his family.

Is that a different version? Some of the stuff looks different from how I remember.
