... The ranches are said to be "near Mines Rd. and Minerales Rd. about 10 miles NW of I-35".
Whether it is lone members or squads is not certain.
Anonymous sources in law enforcement in the Laredo area tonight have passed on word that US law enforcement agencies are in the area and are weighing their options regarding the ranches. The media has been silent on this incident and some law enforcement in the area says that they are furious that the media is not reporting the whole story of the continued violence along the border. Their frustrations are understandable because keeping the truth suppressed continues to hamper law enforcement from receiving the true support they need along the border.
The ranch assaults come on the heals of attacks in Nuevo Laredo that shut the city down as a gun-battle raged in the streets. Los Zetas blocked off intersections with vehicles and used fragmentation grenades to attack Mexican law enforcement. In the end 12 were killed and 21 injured in the assaults. Citizens in the area were told to stay in their homes and bullets whizzed all around. ...

I read about this in the 90’s. They have been threatening ranchers to sell their property to them for a long time. Now that the cartels have gone animal, the threats might work now. They sure don’t have any back up in this country.
Does anyone have any handle of the veracity of this report?
Hi....just checking in for the evening and saw your post....I haven’t seen anything on FOX about this today and it happened at 11 AM???? This can NOT stand and be ignored!
But what seems bizarre about this - if it actually happened - is that drug gangs invading private ranches is the sort of thing that will bring far more law enforcement to bear on themselves than if they just conducted their smuggling and illegal drug sales as inconspicuously as possible.
I do not think for a second that state, county and local law enforcement will sit and do nothing about this, and the article said the ranch owners had fled. And
Update - Statement from Mr. Schwilk)
I can personally vouch that this info came in late last night from a reliable police source inside the Laredo PD. There is currently a standoff between the unknown size Zeta forces and U.S. Border Patrol and local law enforcement on two ranches on our side of the Rio Grande. The source tells us he considers this an "act of war" and that the military is needed on the border now!
Whether it is lone members or squads is not certain.
If this happened, it is the sort of thing that will not be overlooked as if it's just one more group of illegals crossing over the border. And the report says there is already a standoff between the drug gang and local law enforcement and the BP.
There is a point where even the government we have now will react, and that sort of action is probably that point.
That is correct: we have no such signs at 46.5 north longitude. All my comments have carefully distinguished between the southern border area and the north, where I live. As mentioned, there have been a couple of isolated and suspicious farms up here but to portray it as more than that is a great exaggeration.
I live in Texas. I have read about this problem since the 90’s. You can do a google search and find articles on it. It’s a fact of life in Texas on the border. The cartels want to own the US side of the border.
Thanks very much for the ping, HiJinx. Very interesting thread. Thanks to every poster/linker/researcher/educator.
Same goes for Laredo....
“US Citizens in Laredo called 911 after hearing gunfire and explosions just across the border. Laredo police spokesman Joe Baeza deflected the concerns of citizens with what I see as utter contempt. He said there was no spillover violence onto the US side and “We were getting reports from people who live on the river’s edge that they could hear gunfire and explosions from the Mexico side,” Baeza said, “We didn’t have any incidents on the American side. It’s hard for people to understand who don’t live here ... They’re not Vikings, they’re not going to invade us, it doesn’t work that way.”
I don’t know if this particular story is correct or not.
I spoke w/a friend in San A. today....it’s a fact of life down there in southern Texas. The ranchers fear for their lives as it’s a well-known fact that these sort of things DO happen...
So...is that on a web-site, what she told me? No. Would it still surprise me if this were the truth? Not in the least.
I know that the sort of things you discuss happen, but the alleged actions in this story “take it to another level”, to use an overused phrase. If true, I think this one will get a lot of state, county and local response (if in a local jurisdiction), and maybe even federal attention beyond the local BP.
We’ll just to wait and see if we hear more about this from more different news sources.
That we will.
I still wonder, if I remember from reading these two threads....why the police wouldn't confirm nor deny it. (Don't ask me to go find the post...PLEASE don't).
Sheesh, don’t jump down my throat, I was actually trying to defend your number. I know there’s plenty of drug growing and trafficking up here in the Salem-Portland area, but I never heard of literal take-overs of forests and parks. The usual pot growing MO is to plant a crop deep in a National Forest or BLM land. You might get a few local Mexicans shooting at you if you stumble upon it, but I’ve never heard of an organized cartel defense of said grow operations. And I know quite a few people who work in the woods for a living, so I think I do know what the hell I’m talking about, but thanks for the condescension.
Time to send in Mr.Spooky...
Amen...Puff would work real well too.
This is a very good point because they really did sit on their hands, as this administration is doing, when the invaders came. And Rome fell for that in the end...as did the church when the barbarians supposedly were converted but really were not. We have this in churches and of churches today as well. Sad state of affairs we are in!
How are they doing this? I ask because if things continue to heat up it won’t just be the border states dealing with this.
I think we’ve already lost Laredo...
