... The ranches are said to be "near Mines Rd. and Minerales Rd. about 10 miles NW of I-35".
Whether it is lone members or squads is not certain.
Anonymous sources in law enforcement in the Laredo area tonight have passed on word that US law enforcement agencies are in the area and are weighing their options regarding the ranches. The media has been silent on this incident and some law enforcement in the area says that they are furious that the media is not reporting the whole story of the continued violence along the border. Their frustrations are understandable because keeping the truth suppressed continues to hamper law enforcement from receiving the true support they need along the border.
The ranch assaults come on the heals of attacks in Nuevo Laredo that shut the city down as a gun-battle raged in the streets. Los Zetas blocked off intersections with vehicles and used fragmentation grenades to attack Mexican law enforcement. In the end 12 were killed and 21 injured in the assaults. Citizens in the area were told to stay in their homes and bullets whizzed all around. ...

But if this story is true, these gang members have broken a long list of Texas state laws, and Texas state and county authorities can and should deal with them.
Not sure what your point is. The US government also could and should deal with them, but states also have every right to enforce their laws. These folks are not simple illegal entrants who have committed no other crimes.
This should actually be a joint state and federal law enforcement action, if this story is correct, because drug gangs from Mexico who entered the US illegally and took over ranches would have broken many state and federal laws.
“The cartels are running large marijuana grows in the national forests in CA. Not exactly the PNW...”
.
Mendocino and Humbolt counties, which is where most of the action is, is definitely the PNW, but I think it is more than 800 miles from Mexico.
.
Gov. Perry, time to send in the Rangers, the National Guard, and the Texas state police’s tactical teams. Thugcops wanna play Rambo, well here’s their chance. Good cops with tactical training want to use their skills appropriately? Here you go, too.
Also, where is the Texas Cattlemen’s Association?
This is an armed invasion. It needs to be repelled.
Several replies have asked why they'd take and hold ranches along that lane.
The goal is to scare people off, not necessarily to replace them, yet.
They may want to stay in some US locations, not in a cluster, but they don't need to hold property.
With a couple of Arizona ranchers killed and some number of ranchers chased off their land by armed gangs fewer US citizens are likely to want to remain, fewer will be willing to confront the invaders, and the US government will remain oblivious so long as there are only 'scattered incidents'.
“This is an armed invasion. It needs to be repelled.”
.
About half of Texas thinks the invasion came from the north...
.
“Would you care to elaborate on that claim? I live in the PNW, and I am not aware of anything like that. You said they have TAKEN over? Please elaborate.”
I don’t know how anyone could miss it. Even the media is finally covering it. Here are some links with photos of the cartel camps and other stories. The stories have all been posted on FR.
Just a few days ago: [snip]The largest garden was near Hayfork, in which 46,000 plants were found in a single garden, Vollmer said.
Forest service law enforcement officers also arrested one man, Gauldry Almonte-Hernandez, of Mexico who ran during a raid on July 9 near Hayfork, Vollmer said.
Solus said that his agents have arrested around 20 suspects in connection with the grows. Most the suspects were Mexican growers arrested on suspicion of federal drug trafficking charges, he said.

[snip]Last summer, rural residents of Siskiyou County, California.....800 miles from the border, heard groups of spanish speaking people walking up and down the roads in the middle of the night, patrolling. The various cartels are here fighting each other over LAND...our national forests, to grow their weed. We are told not to go into the forests for our own safety.
One fire in California last summer, LaBrea, was set by these cartels, consumed 88,000 acres.

Pot farms ravaging park land - Mexican Drug Cartels in the US of A!
Federal officials believe as much as 80 percent of the marijuana on public land is grown by Mexican drug cartels that have turned to places like Point Reyes National Seashore, Sequoia-Kings Canyon National Park and Whiskeytown National Recreation Area in this era of tightened border security; growing the drug here is far easier than smuggling it in. The plants found in Point Reyes last week were valued at around $50 million, Dell’Osso said.
The federal Office of National Drug Control policy estimates that growing 1 acre of marijuana damages 10 acres of land.

There is NOTHING in the media on this, will they wait till los zetos gets to DC before they realize it’s newsworthy?
If they’re not careful O will slap Los Zetas with sanctions
Texas should hurry up and kill the little b-——ds before Obama and the Feds come and save them...
I don’t think the gangs will stay on the ranches. They’ll fade away if law enforcement/military is brought in. But they get their message across.
“Don’t mess with us, ranchers!”
Pure intimidation!
A good place to try out that Barrett 98Bravo with the B.O.R.S. System.
The USA knows the value of military bases on foreign soil. Zetas obviously know it too. They just don't plan on playing nice by paying for the lease.
For them, the value of bases on the US side of the border is huge. They need safe areas to receive and send shipments, launch and land airplanes, park and maintain US-licensed vehicles, store materials, weapons, and so on.
With all the encouragement that is gushing from the White House, the invaders expect no resistance. The owners "evacuated" themselves, and the LEO is "studying their options." Perhaps in a few years the police will be learned enough to do something, barring a lawsuit from the federal government (of this country - must mention that, since these days foreign countries seem to have legal standing in US courts, but US citizens don't have any.)
I don’t think it is a matter of preparedness, it is the rules of engagement. They are acting like an army, our law enforcement is expected to treat them as criminals. They will be attacking to kill, our cops will be trying to apprehend. This could get real messy.
Does anyone else remember some years ago when Texas border towns complained they did not want a wall because they got “cross border” shoppers?
I wonder how they feel now..
Call out the Guard, or the US Army TEXAS RANGERS.
I used to live in Texas and I should have known that. Thanks for fixin my error!
