I hope that conservatives have plenty of decent choices for ‘12 GOP POTUS, but I, also, hope that all of these choices don’t help a RINO become the final pick for GOP POTUS, yet again!

As Simon says politics is all about connection and he has grasped a key political fact about Sarah Palin. There are, already, a considerable number of Americans who would sleep more easily in their homes with the knowledge that this fascinating and rather mysterious woman was keeping watch over their land…

I don’t think she wants it at all. She’s making great money, can speak her mind freely and is beholden to nobody.

All that changes if she runs for office.

She might do it down the line when she’s banked 50+ million on her own.

I agree with Mr. Simon that Palin has a real chance of being the Republican nominee. I think anyone would be crazy to discount her chances in the primary.

However, I also notice that he doesn’t address Palin’s chances of actually being elected President, and I think that’s where her real problem is. Palin is certainly popular among the base, but her favorability numbers among independents are as bad or worse than Obama’s. Unlike other potential Republican candidates, there aren’t many fence-sitters for her to win over, either.

Like it or not, whoever the Republican nominee is is going to have to win over independents. As things stand now, it looks like Palin is going to have a hard time there.
