They've faced down humans time and time again, but Fred Phelps and his minions from the Westboro Baptist Church were not ready for the cosplay action that awaited them today at Comic-Con. After all, who can win against a counter protest that includes robots, magical anime girls, Trekkies, Jedi and...kittens?
Unbeknownst to the dastardly fanatics of the Westboro Baptist Church, the good folks of San Diego's Comic-Con were prepared for their arrival with their own special brand of superhuman counter protesting chanting "WHAT DO WE WANT" "GAY SEX" "WHEN DO WE WANT IT" "NOW!" while brandishing ironic (and some sincere) signs. Simply stated: The eclectic assembly of nerdom's finest stood and delivered.
As you can see below, the fantastic fanboys delivered the the church a humorous dose of sweet fan justice. ComicsAlliance was there to witness the spectacle in full, which you can indulge in yourself after the jump.
LOL, gotta love it. Those Westboro freaks need to be ridiculed.
Hmmmmmm..... Welcome Newbie. You joined today to post this?
It was awesome!
They are protesting Westboro, they deserve a little slack. :->
Funny.
I know they are. But I’m wondering whether this is just another blog pimping. We’re getting so many of those lately.
Actually, Phelps is a piece of comment censored. He can bite my shiny, metal, daffodil, a**.
When was Phelps and his church in in San Diego? Were they protesting a burial? I don’t recall seeing anything on that.
Actually, my die in the wool conservative Republican ex-USMC facebook friend was the originator and he was not the blog author.
Epic Win for the Nerds. Utter Fail for the Phelpsies. . .
Hey Bender, over here
We’ve been getting a LOT of spammers and article bots lately so folks are on edge about noobs.
Phelps and his gang were in San Diego specifically to protest at Comic Con because he thinks this country worships comic book characters more than God. I’m paraphrasing but that’s pretty close.
I dunno. My friend isn’t particularly religious and he likes to point out hypocrisy wherever it lies. Lord knows there’s enough among whackjobs like Phelps and others.
So they're branching out. Interesting this dirt bag protests on behalf of God, when he wouldn't be doing what he's doing if he truly believed in God. And, he's as much an evil comic book character himself. Obviously, the irony hasn't overcome him yet. I won't hold my breath...
First of all this article is good. I like the photo. I follow comic con to some extent on aintitcool.com. I hate Fred Phelps and his minions (though it’s not hard to find anybody that doesn’t) so I’m glad this was a bad day for them.
Having said that:
This is a conservative political website. We welcome liberals with the same enthusiasm that democraticunderground.come welcomes conservatives...meaning we don’t welcome them at all. If you are a conservative then welcome to FR. If you are not then I still appreciate the article but I suggest you move on to another, less ideological forum.
There are, but Phelps and him family are evil. That goes beyond wacko status. Again, welcome to FR.
