Ok, here’s a list of some of my favorites.
A Fish Called Wanda
Air Force One
Dave
Executive Decision
The Blind Side
Red Dawn
United 93
DeJa Vu
Frequency
Blazing Saddles
Young Frankenstein
Scary Movie series
Good flick. Raised an interesting question, just who does the President unwind with or to.
Cabaret-amazing depth to that movie. I’ve seen it three times, and have gotten something new with every viewing.
I didn’t care for all the vulgarity,
good plot though. My op.
Hitchcock was a genius. An artist.
Twelve O'Clock High
Probably the best WWII movie ever. Peck defines the term "man's man" in this standout performance. Superb performances all around, especially by Dean Jagger.
In Harm's Way
John Wayne at his best. Great supporting work by Kirk Douglas, Burgess Meredith, Patricia O'Neill, and newcomer Tom Tryon.
Miracle on 34th Street (the original 1947 version)
My favorite Christmas movie. Accept no substitute.
Deep Impact
Surprisingly credible. Nobody does gravitas like Morgan Freeman. Tea Leoni's deadpan performance has a charm of its own. One of Robert Duvall's most interesting character studies.
Thirteen Days
Perhaps the closest the cold war ever came to turning into nuclear Armageddon. Gripping story.
Princess Bride
Annie
Mary Poppins
Wizard of Oz
Sound of Music
Oklahoma
Phantom of the Opera
Seven Brides for Seven Brothers
Dune
Chitty Chitty Bang Bang
Goonies
Independence Day
Legend
Labyrinth
The Outsiders
The Patriot
Armageddon
Sound of Music
Gunga Din. As my mother-in-law would say, I can play all the parts. (almost)
I love musicals, am really sentimental, and my name is William, so I can always enjoy the so far unmentioned
‘Carousel’
Dozens of those mentioned above.
Awesome indeed ......!
Sam Neill is really perfect in “The Dish,” isn’t he? And the soundtrack sure brings back poignant memories. All of the songs that were hits when I was 12 years old and America was prosperous and free.
Yeah, it’s on there. I hope you like it!
As for me I can watch "The Fifth Element" over and over as well as "The Maltese Falcon" and "It's a Wonderful Life" and "Up" and "Avatar" and any of the "Toy Story" movies.
Most dramas made in the last twenty years are mediocre.
