I think I am beginning to discover why so many in the past and presumably why SO MANY MORE going forward will seek to do business with CASH only customers (albeit, I dont' agree with this) and totally bypass the gov's effort to help the small guy and gal.

Simply engage in as few taxable activities as possible.
Whenever possible, do-it-yourself rather than hiring somebody.
Earn as little as necessary, spend as little as possible.
Starve the beast.

I have been in two business in the last month who would not take cash.
Debit or credit only. I needed what I needed but wont go back.
This may become more common.

When engaging in a transaction, ask if there’s a cash discount. Good bet there will be.

You might be surprised at the answer ... and how big the discount. I think they call it stock shrinkage.

If they’re fudging their taxes, then yes, it can be a substantial cash discount. If they’re playing straight, it’s around 1.5%.

I have one conservative friend that has gone pretty much cash for everything. He noticed when he bought food and scanned the bonus dollar little scanning tab, it would Tailor coupons to him. He does not want a database of what he eats given the tentacles of the Obamatons and Obamacare.

Always pay with cash. Once that money leaves your hands, it's no longer your concern. You may be helping a poor struggling business man feed his family.
Avoid any and all taxes as much as possible. If you can't fix something yourself - "share" the burden by trading a service of your own for it. (A neighbor can fix your mower. You can agree to mow his lawn for a few months in exchange. You can watch his kids a few hours for a month so he and his wife can have some private time. Be creative.)

Bartenders and waitresses have been fudging taxes forever. Maybe it’s time for the rest of us to catch up.

I have been in two business in the last month who would not take cash. Debit or credit only. Well, my business is the exact opposite. I don't have a merchant credit card account, so I take only checks and cash. I've got a good friend who runs a superb auto repair shop, and he's never taken credit or debit cards either. Neither of us have ever had a problem.
