Concerned that too many students are using federal grants to attend the wrong kind of schools, the US Department of Education is weighing new rules that would restrict grant money from being used to pay for schooling provided at for-profit institutions.
For-profit schools provide training in fields like information technology, health care, criminal justice, and automotive repair. Enrollment at these for-profit schools has increased by 20% since the recession knocked so many out of their jobs.
Increasing enrollment in these private for-profit schools is not what the President had in mind when he expanded the grant program last year, said Department of Education Under-Secretary Oswald Oddfellow. These schools arent truly academic environments. The instructors arent real professors with PhDs. The curriculum is narrowly oriented toward teaching job-related skills. There is no exposure to the broader ideas of civilization like social justice or ecological consciousness. They churn out craftsmen and tradesmen, not enlightened global citizens. This is a real disappointment.
Whether the student is satisfied is not the relevant factor, Oddfellow added. This is a social undertaking using the resources of the collective society. As the representative of the collective will of society, the government has every right to decide how these funds will be used.

GOT ME!
GOD.... I hope this is satire! You just never know anymore with this bunch! (nothing surprises you)
For-profit higher education centers got their start, grew exponentially, and make high profits because of student loans. When the expansion of federal loans came about, these entities saw dollar signs. Money is easy to get and they couldn’t care less if student can/can’t afford to pay the huge loans back.
This is prophecy, not satire.
And how dies this differs from Harvard or Columbia or any State U.? Do they really care if your degree in the History of Ideas is ever going to pay enough to let you pay off your loans?
This is just a further attempt to get control of all education. It's using the 'bash the capitalist' theme.
The Obama-ite alternative will be like union apprenticeships. If you want to sign up for classes to become a carpenter, you'll have to have a slip from the Carpenter's Union to get matriculated, and to get a loan.
God forbid that people should attend schools that actually teach them to do something useful that will allow them to earn a living, without the indoctrination and brain-washing required at state schools and the Ivy League.
You are supposed to go to a “University” and have a bunch of pseudo educated PhDs indoctrinate you to their Communist ideology.
