Russians to Obama: watch Armageddon

On April, 1 – fools day - President Obama said the following talking about the US health care:

After I signed the bill, I looked around. I looked up at the sky to see if asteroids were coming. I looked at the ground to see if cracks had opened up in the earth. You know what, it turned out it was a pretty nice day. Birds were still chirping. Folks were strolling down the street.
On April, 15 President Obama was still laughing:
So I went to NASA today and I asked some of the guys. I said, are asteroids coming? Are you sending Bruce Willis and Ben Affleck out to… (laughter)

April 20 –the oil leak Armageddon begins.

According to Vladimir Lagovskii... Komsomolskaya Pravda, it is time for President Obama to call Bruce Willis to stop the oil spill.

… in principle there is no difference – you still need to drill a well at a distance from the leak. And then lower the bomb. Like in the movie “Armageddon” with Bruce Willis as a driller. It is desirable that the calculations were done correctly. There is hope: the U.S. is full of smart scientists and powerful computers. And Russia could contribute. The people who did the USSR peaceful nuclear demolitions are still alive... Russians are laughing. However Obama may be laughing last.

Instead of nuking the oil well the US President chose a path of saving the well for production purposes. The path may lead to bankruptcy and nationalization of BP and turning the former British Petroleum into a future Barack Petroleum. After nationalizing the banks, mortgage and car industries – a government oil company will complete the Obama American Perestroika.

Yeah, a methane explosion causes a small crack in the sea floor and releases lots of oil. So why won’t a NUCLEAR BOMB make a bigger crack and release even more oil?

BTW it wouldn’t work on an asteroid either. It was a movie.

Never have been able to understand why blowing up an asteroid wouldn’t help. All I hear is that instead of one big one you would have “millions” of small ones which would be worse. First, wouldn’t the explosion cause a large portion of the pieces to be pushed into paths which would result in them not reaching the earth at all? Second, wouldn’t there be more of the smaller ones burning up in entry since they are small? The problem with a big one is that it ejects mass of crust into space which falls back as additional asteroids. Smaller impacts would have less energy to eject matter back into space for reentry. I have never been able to find a solid article explaining why it wouldn’t be better to at least decrease it somewhat. It appears to me to be more of an emotional..no!..no!...nukes bad! I would rather be shot at from a distance with bird shot than a slug.

4-15-10 OBAMA: “I looked around and there were no cracks opened up in the earth.”

4-15-10 BP ENGINEER: “Deep Horizon is a nightmare well.”

http://blogs.discovermagazine.com/intersection/tag/deepwater-horizon/

The Committee’s investigation is raising serious
questions about the decisions made by BP in the days
and hours before the explosion on the Deepwater Horizon.
On April 15, five days before the explosion, BP’s drilling
engineer called Macondo a “nightmare well.” In spite of
the well’s difficulties, BP appears to have made multiple
decisions for economic reasons that increased the danger
of a catastrophic well failure. In several instances,
these decisions appear to violate industry guidelines
and were made despite warnings from BP’s own personnel
and its contractors. In effect, it appears that BP repeatedly
chose risky procedures in order to reduce costs and save
time and made minimal efforts to contain the added risk.

My opinion only: Using thermonuclear sledgehammers on asteroids is a last ditch, if probably effective solution. But there are other possible methods that would not have radioactive meteorites smashing everything in orbit.

I like the thought of attempting theories involving using gravitational attraction to change the orbit or even attaching a rocket motor to the asteroid. These are less likely to have uncontrollable side effects.

"Gave proof through the night...that our fag was still there"

Almost TOO easy.
