Cancer vs Jesus
TheCypressTimes.com ^ | 06/18/2010 | Wesley Wilson, Age 12

By Wesley Wilson, Age 12

Let's face it. We all hate cancer. But when you read John 14:6, "I am the way, the truth and the life," that gives us something to think about.

Jesus' way is the only way. You won't be misled.

Jesus' truth is the only truth you can always depend on in good times and bad.

And the most important, The Life is the only thing we live for. Some people say there's no cure for cancer. Jesus is the only cure for cancer.

And that's the truth.

Editor's Note: Wesley is my son, and he's writing this about his daddy who has gone to at-home hospice this week.

Your question makes no sense to me...sorry. He knows all & owns all. He will redeem that which the Usuper has temporarily stolen away - His Bride & the earth.

Pretty simple really...If God knows something will happen, does it have to happen?

How does that question not make sense? Seems like a yes or no thing.

Only by faith that the Bible is God’s word, stating that creation groans in agony for deliverance . Romans I think. Faith you have it or you do not. I can know the answer of your question through faith.

What about people of other faiths? How is the validity of on’e faith determined?

No, of course not.

The weird thing is that maladies such as cancer are the terrible result of the Fall. But God can use them for His benefit and ours.

Yes, if God knows something will happen, then it will happen.

What do you mean by “the validity of one’s faith”? Everyone has faith, in different things and people. Only faith in the Savior is efficacious.

Are you asking if God could be made a liar? What He has proclaimed will be. He knows all that is past, present, and future.

Are you asking if man can prevail upon Him to change His mind? There is some suggestion of that in the scriptures, yet He always knows what He is doing.

Example: Satan has set his will against God & will ultimately be dispatched to the Lake of Fire, which burns eternally. So, if I pray that Satan will repent, be reconciled to God, and return to heaven, will it happen? No, because that would make the Word of God untrue. And, God is Truth.

“How is it, that you KNOW these things things about God?”

God reveals Himself and His will not just to me, but to you and everyone else as well, through his Bible.

That is what the purpose of the Bible is.

I think the answer is rather simple. Free will and the ability to choose good cannot occur unless the opposite of those things exists and can be understood.

There is no happiness without sadness.
No health without disease.
No compassion without suffering.
Me mercy without justice.
No love without hate.
No life without death.

I disagree with the premise of your post.

I believe there is indeed happiness without sadness. At least ultimately, in heaven. There is no sorrow there. Yet everyone is joyful.

If, by your statements, you mean to say that bad things are definitely going to happen in this world, then yes, I agree.

I like to see laws that minimize risks to others, without making life so risk-free as to be unliveable.

As an example, we require hotels have guards on their windows so that kids and stumblers don’t fall out.

But we don’t forbid them to have windows at all, nor do we require them to check them every hour on the hour.

There is a middle ground, and I think I am advocating that.

Actually my reply wandered off into a tangent, sorry. Wish we had the ability to delete our own posts. I’d have liked to clean my reply up somewhat.

No, I’m not asking if God can be made a liar and no, I’m not asking if man can prevail upon Him to change His mind.

I’m suggesting that if God knows what someone will do, and what God knows will happen, must happen...then where is the free-will choice?

For an example, God knew Jeffrey Dahmer was going to commit horrible crimes before Dahmer was even born. This we’ve established. How then, could Dahmer NOT commit those crimes? Why would God create horrible people and innocent victims, knowing what will happen?

What about non-Christians? Why does God create them? He knows what their choices are going to be. He even knows that they will be non-Christian, before He creates them.

Wesley, I pray for a miracle for your Daddy.

I know when hospice care is called in, people think the worst is on its way. I hope you can sit with your Dad and he can express to you what are his most important dreams for you, and what his desires are for you in terms of your behavior and life journey. If your Dad goes to G-d before you grow up, I know you will be wanting to achieve some things for him, or be some way because he dreamed it. You will wish to know what he most wanted for you.

How I hope your Dad can receive a miraculous recovery. I will be praying.

Doesn’t He know, prior to creating them, what they will do in life?

NO, if He had known the devil was going to rebel then He would not have set Lucifer as the anointed cherub that covereth; Oh and this did not happen in this flesh age. But is the reason why we have this flesh age.

We are not told when our soul and spirit intellect were created, and when the Adam was formed he was not alive until the breath of life was breathed into his nostrils. Breath of life means soul.... and we are told that when our flesh dies the soul/spirit returns to the Maker that sent it.

And Paul writes that before ever doing good or evil Jacob He loved and Esau He hated... That simply is NOT possible to hate someone you do not even know, most especially a babe not yet born in the flesh. Romans 9:11-16

I did...??? I don’t see how cancer can be considered fortunate, except to those that have survived. Certainly not to those that haven’t survived, currently have it, or their families. I think if you were so callous as to poll those poor people in chemo wards, sitting there for hours with that poison dripping in them, day after day, or to a terminal ward, you would be very hard pressed to find anyone that was thankful for having cancer.
