President Obama didnt take time to appoint new ambassador to Slovenia. The position is vacant since January. But just because the USA does not take interest in Slovenia doesnt mean Slovenia doesnt take interest in the USA. This is especial y true in the wake of the clash between the two countries at the World Cup soccer championship in South Africa.
Slovenia is currently a leader in group C after winning against Algeria (the USA will fight the Arabs in the last game in the first phase of the World Cup). The Slovenian Embassy in Washington DC issued an invitation:
To add to the soccer fever that is sweeping across the world, the Slovenian Embassy would like to invite anyone who can come to watch Slovenia play the United States on Friday, June 18 at Buffalo Billiards in the DuPont Circle area at 9:30 am.With three ten-foot projection screens and 45 flat screen TVs to watch the game on, it will truly be an amazing experience. All are welcome to come along and cheer Slovenia on as they try for another win against the United States.
Team USA is 14 in the FIFA ranking, which makes the Sons of Sam favorites in the game against the Green Dragons (ranked 25th).

Hopefully they’ll play like they did against Algeria, and we’ll play like we did against England. Here’s hoping the young bucks up front show their stuff!
This is really the one the US has to win, regardless of what they did against England.
Team USA looked fresh against England :) Slovenia scares easy!
The one we have to win is the one against the Arabs - the rest - is just soccer.
Slovenia knocked out Russia to get the SA, you don’t qualify out of Europe unless you’re good.
This game scares me.
Ivory Coast and Portugal just finished 0:0
What kind of marketing strategy those soccer people have?
Russia is a fading shadow of what the old USSR team was - so have hope!
Yeah, a loss to Slovenia and we’re through.
Pretty boy Ronaldo had another failure in the World Cup.
They made it to the semis of Euro 2008, Andrei Arshavin is one of the best players in the world.
I was born in Bulgaria - don’t make say something good about Russia :)
Ping!
It was so annoying seeing Cristiano Ronaldo WHINE as he usually does. Damn shame IC couldn’t do a 2-0 on Portugal. The ‘chops need to go.
I’m conflicted. Should I root for the USA or my ancestral homeland? At least they have a conservative government. At least if they both get booted I still have Argentina :-).
President Obama didn't take time to appoint new ambassador to Slovenia. The position is vacant since January... Slovenia is currently a leader in group C......which means, they could walk away with the coveted C Cup.
