Obama Turned Down Oil Skimming Ships From The Dutch Government

Three days after the spill, the Dutch government offered oil skimming ships and booms to assist with the clean up. The Obama administration turned down the request. President Obama's stumbling response to this ecological disaster has been shameful and proves he lacks the executive experience to be President. In late May, President Obama said,

"Those who think we were either slow on the response or lacked urgency, don't know the facts..."
The excerpt posted below proves that statement wasn't true.

The Houston Chronicle reported:

Three days after the explosion of the Deepwater Horizon in the Gulf of Mexico, the Dutch government offered to help.

It was willing to provide ships outfitted with oil-skimming booms, and it proposed a plan for building sand barriers to protect sensitive marshlands. The response from the Obama administration and BP, which are coordinating the cleanup: “The embassy got a nice letter from the administration that said, ‘Thanks, but no thanks,’” said Geert Visser, consul general for the Netherlands in Houston.

“….. thirteen entities had offered the U.S. oil spill
assistance within about two weeks of the Horizon rig explosion. They were the
governments of Canada, Croatia, France, Germany, Ireland, Mexico, the Netherlands,
Norway, Romania, Republic of Korea, Spain, Sweden, the United Kingdom, and the
United Nations.
The U.S. response - Thank you, but no thank you, we've got it.
‘..While there is no need right now that the U.S. cannot meet, the U.S. Coast Guard is
assessing these offers of assistance to see if there will be something which we will need
in the near future.’”

Actually - it was at least 17 countries ignored by Pres_ _ent Obama.

This all part of Obambie’s puppet master’s plans for the destruction of America.
Remember, Obambie is just a tool of people like George Soros.

As a Dutchman, I am quite shocked, I did not know this! Thanks for posting.

Thing is: without being oversentimental, I can say safely that the Dutch have an outstanding track record of solving problems at sea, and also in deep waters everywhere.

The company ‘Smit Tak’ could retrieve a Russian nuclear submarine a decade or so ago, for instance.

I am certain that our ships would have made a valuable contribution to the clearup of the oil covering the coastal waters.

Why o why did Obie refuse?????

I think it was Rush Limbaugh who first proposed the notion that Obama hates America. Obama will never admit this but his actions and words testify that this is exactly the case.

And the reason why is no matter how many times you show the picture of the oil covered bird, most people jst see the evil oil industry.

Because people are just that shallow in their worldview.

They have been conditioned to only think simple thoughts, and anything else is “tin foil hat crazy”

I keep thinking that at some point people will realize that obama isn’t incompetent, but that he has a very different plan for our country than most Americans have.

Of all the things Obambi has done, I get the feeling this one is gonna leave a mark.

He refused because he is a pompous ass. He is not half as intellegent as he thinks he is, and cannot admit when he’s in over his head.

Not only should he have graciously accepted the offer of help, he should have responded with our own resources as well. He did nothing.

This country is always the first to help other countries with disasters. We should accept their offers of help when we need it as well. Those countries are probably shaking their heads in disgust.

I have felt from the beginning that Obama wants this destruction. Why? I think he feels everyone’s attention is on this crisis so he can pass and do other things while no one is aware. As an American, I pray for LA and all of its citizens. It sickens me what is happening. However, I have a conscience. I question if O has one at all. I think the Dutch would have made a valuable contribution as well. Why turn away help? Oh, yeah that’s right. The Dutch aren’t part of a huge American union.

President peacock seems to stand with one finger in his mouth, and the other finger up his rump, and everytime someone says “Union”...he switches fingers.

Has there been an empirical explanation of why the oil and tarballs look so red? All I can find is some vague dispersant references.........but I highly doubt the number of dispersant was enough to change the tint to this degree and this much.

Something seems very “off” about the whole thing from start to finish with the actions on the rig before to the response after.

On May 27th–Memorial Day weekend–Jake Tapper reported that 17 nations have offered assistance with this crisis:

At yesterday’s State Department briefing, spokesman P.J. Crowley updated reporters on the offers of international assistance the Department has received to help with the oil spill in the Gulf.

He said the U.S. has received offers to assist from 17 countries . . . The countries are: Canada, Mexico, Korea, Croatia, France, Germany, Ireland, Japan, Netherlands, Norway, Romania, Russia, Spain, Sweden, the United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom and Vietnam.

Though the State Department receives the offers, it is BP and the Unified Area Command, led by the Coast Guard, that are the entities that decide which offers to accept. So far, the UAC has accepted skimmers and booms offered by Mexico and Norway. He deferred questions as to why only those offers had been accepted so far to the UAC in Louisiana.

Crowley did not have much information on what each country was specifically offering besides saying, “technical things, skimmers, booms, you know in some cases expertise.” He said most of the offers came in the weeks after the spill.

So, BP is in charge, then? BP is refusing help from all but two nations?

But I thought the president was in charge; this crisis is occurring in a federal jurisdiction. During Katrina, people excoriated President Bush for not overstepping his bounds by bringing the feds in before the local and state governments did their work. President Obama has no such restrictions on him. Why isn’t he helping Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal expedite the damn paperwork through bureaucratic channels, so he can build his berms? Why isn’t he telling BP, “what do you mean, you accepted so little help?”

17 nations offered help with “technical things and in some cases expertise.” I’m thinking Russia and the UAE might have quite a bit of expertise to lend.

Unions over oil.....
Unions over US.....
Unions uber alles.
