Lessons from Life and Other Potpourri (Personal)
Joya's Notebook | June 8, 2010 | Various

Posted on 06/08/2010 9:14:16 PM PDT by Joya

1. Take a 10-30 minute walk everyday. And while you walk, smile. It is the ultimate anti-depressant.

2. Sit in silence for at least ten minutes each day. Talk to God about what is going on in your life. Buy a lock if you have to.

3. When you wake up in the morning complete the following statement, 'My purpose is to __________ today. I am thankful for______________'

4. Eat more foods that grow on trees and plants and eat less food that is manufactured in plants.

5. Drink green tea and plenty of water. Eat blueberries, wild Alaskan salmon, broccoli, and almonds.

6. Try to make at least three people smile each day.

7. Don't waste your precious energy on gossip, energy vampires, issues of the past, negative thoughts, or things you cannot control. Instead, invest your energy in the positive present moment.

8. Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a college kid with a maxed out credit card.

9. Life isn't fair, but it's still good.

10. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone.

11. Don't take yourself so seriously. No one else does.

12. You are not so important that you have to win every argument, agree to disagree.

13. Make peace with your past so it won't spoil the present.

14. Don't compare your life to other people's lives.

15. No one is in charge of your happiness except you.

16. Frame every so-called disaster with these words: 'In five years, will this matter?'

17. Forgive everyone for everything.

18. What other people think of you is none of your business.

19. GOD heals everything - but you have to ask Him.

20. However good or bad a situation is, it will change.

21. Your job won't take care of you when you are sick. Your friends will. Stay in touch !!!

22. Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need.

23. Each night before you go to bed complete the following statements: I am thankful for __________. Today I accomplished _________.

24. Remember that you are too blessed to be stressed.

25. When you are feeling down, start listing your many blessings. You'll be smiling before you know it.

First link, not very scary, barely bigger than a quarter, it’s the funny one where the guy says he has to move to a different house to get away from the spiders. The second link show a giant unbelievably huge spider that’s waaayy scary.

Chinese Language ping:

This story begins August 2009 in a tiny, dark hospital room. We spent the last 10 days travelling to Southern China to get our 2 year old daughter Georgia Mei, this day was actually her second birthday. Georgia had a very serious heart condition and we had been told that we literally would need to “risk her life in order to save it”. The 16 hour International flight could have been too much for her heart but she had to get stateside to get the surgery she needed. We landed in Seattle ... immediately admitted so they could start stablizing her heart for open heart surgery.

... Every sight, smell, sound taste ... all of it was now so foreign. Her simple world was now filled not only with a whole different culture but with machines and tubes and wires and panic. I held her and prayed, prayed so hard that the Lord would comfort her heart. I grieved that she had to walk this road. There was no way that it was even close to fair. I prayed that God would somehow bring something of comfort for her.

Our room was divided by one of those curtains on a track. Until now our ‘roomies’ had not made a peep. I heard someone stir and my first thought was panic, what if I could not keep Georgia quiet? It was the middle of the day for her and she was grieving hard. I never could have predicted what came next ....

A man began to quietly speak ... presumably to his child on the other side of the curtain ... and he spoke in Chinese! Georgia immediately calmed and snuggled up on my shoulder ... tears of disbelief ran down my face. This father continued to comfort his daughter in the language my daughter had left behind.

Only God could care that deeply ... only He could make that happen. As it turned out, this family was from Mainland southern China! They were our roomates for the next 5 days and the father was there round the clock with his 5 year old girl who was recovering from open heart surgery! He translated for us, cared for us, sang to Georgia. He was absolutely, without a doubt what we all needed.

...

“Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.”
Luke 12:7

“The LORD your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing.”
Zepheniah 3:17
