ABC News tries to talk to author Joe McGinniss, who is renting the house next door to Sarah Palin in Wasilla, Alaska. When the reporter knocks on his door, he is told by McGinniss that he's trespassing and threatens to call the police.

They can call the police to report a crime and call the fire department to report a fire, but the only person who can ask for the police to escort someone off their property is the person who owns the property.
I know this because I was involved in Operation Rescue a few years back, and we had to know the intricacies of the law.
