Secretary of Education Arne Duncan is asking Congress to put politics and ideology aside – for the good of the children – and come up with $23 billion to save education in America. What did you really expect would happen? The $100 billion in stimulus funding was just the tip of the iceberg.

Schools these days are top heavy. Unions are in control. He is not saving education, he is saving unions.

It’s not about the kids.

The Public School Bailout. Piss even more people off especially since taxpayers are rejecting school budget proposals at an incredible rate.

Public education is a 19th century paradigm that has outlived it’s usefulness. It should be completely gutted. Maybe a force of educated “guidance trainers” could work in conjunction with parents to help them with curriculum and computer/internet tools.

Shut down the Dept of Education, cut the Federal Government by half. A good start.

Yeah. I believe it is those same children who will end up paying it back with a fair amount of interest tacked on.

No thanks.

I have a better idea.
Abolish the Department of Education. They’ve been around for decades with no positive achievements to show for it.

Return the money that would normally go to the Dept. of Education and let the states raise their own money for schools.

Education is properly a state matter, and the Federal Government has no business meddling in it. In addition, one of the steps the Nazis took when taking over Germany was to federalize the school systems of the various German states... The federal Department of Education obviously needs abolishing in order to properly preserve federalism...

More power and control going to the feds. Now they can do to the public education system what they’ve done to social security. Cradle to grave.

Properly it’s a local issue. Historically it’s a local issue. All the bullshit court precedents set recently suggesting that school funding is a state issue is just that, bullshit. The further school control and school funding gets from the parent the less constitutional it is.
