Unbelievable

What does this have to do withy the "war on terror"?
Not an America I recognize.
"We don't need and grounds. This is the United States."
Beautiful.
Nazis? He sounded like a Democrat to me.
Heard that audio a week or so ago and it made my blood boil.
He should be barred from coming into the US for life since he has so little respect for this nation.
There is obviously more to this story than meets the eye...the actual pristinely clear recording, for one. I think I smell a setup. I would check his background...off hand, I’d say a Gerbilist job or some action group member..
Agreed. He was a smart ass and should have just answered the questions. Border patrol isn’t there to make him feel good.
>He should be barred from coming into the US for life since he has so little respect for this nation.
I disagree.
Even if you consider the entry into the US as a privilege, just as driving, would you condone some official [LEO or bureaucrat] being able to revoke that ability on a mere whim? {Also, when did being a smart-ass become punishable under force of law/authority?}
Is the government official ALWAYS correct? (Ruby Ridge, Waco TX, Elian Gonzales)
We don’t need another open border.
Too many foreigners see the US, not as a nation, but as territory to be colonized.
withy
Are you drunk?
A few months ago I had to go through the Mexican/American border stations about 20 times. The guards are professionals. They’re looking for people who display certain behaviors. The guards are in constant danger as there have been shooting incidents. If you want to have minimum difficulties you had better be polite, non-confrontational and cooperative. Also, if you have a support-legalization bumper sticker or a marihuana tattoo, sorry, you can expect extra attention.
I saw dog teams and the guard would approach the car, say nothing to the occupants, but open the door. The dog would put his paws on the seat and sniff. I’d advise that you not move or say anything. Maybe a polite nod.
I’m sorry, but these are the times we live in. Those guards are in constant danger and they know it. You should treat them with respect. Also, if you’re a flaming liberal who hates all the “pigs” in uniform, you’re likely to come across as someone who requires extra attention not because they’re anti-liberal, but because you’re displaying an attitude that many criminals display to the law. (Hey, maybe that’s why so many people arrested in Chicago are wearing Obama t-shirts!)
>We dont need another open border.
I am *NOT* advocating an open border.
What I _AM_ advocating is that officers/officials always have an answer ready for the question “why?” even if it’s as something as arbitrary as “You’re number 49 and I’m doing a more in-depth search on every 7th vehicle today...”
IOW, officials should be held accountable for their exercises of power; “we don’t need a reason” is NOT acceptable on any level of public-servant/LEO. (It’s the incestuous & bastard cousin of ‘guilty until proven innocent’ & “I was only following orders.”)
>Too many foreigners see the US, not as a nation, but as territory to be colonized.
I’m of the opinion that military force should be used to repel the invaders.
I see so when a foreigner wants into our country we had better bend over and grab the ankles if said foreigner asks a question?
After all he owns us and we had better answer HIS questions, especially since he won’t answer ours.
>Im sorry, but these are the times we live in. Those guards are in constant danger and they know it.
While they may be in increased danger than that of the average citizen, I don’t think that is reason enough for arbitrary exercise of power.
>You should treat them with respect.
‘Respect’ does *not* mean ‘always in the right’ or ‘to disagree is wrong.’ I get tired of the ‘respect’ reason being thrown around in relation to authority to encourage not submission, but blind and unquestioning submission.
Jesus said to “render unto Cesar’s that which is Cesar’s, and unto God that which is God’s” when asked about the lawfulness of paying taxes; but that ISN’T the same as Him saying “Pay whatever the taxman says you owe.” {In context, the tax-collectors of the day were often corrupt and would add to your tax-bill and pocket the difference; in no was, except the most naive, can Jesus’s words be meant to condone that behavior. In fact, consider “Thou shalt not steal” & “Thou shalt not bear false witness” in that sort of scenario.}
>I see so when a foreigner wants into our country we had better bend over and grab the ankles if said foreigner asks a question?
Wait, what? I can’t even parse this; I don’t know what you’re trying to say [or ask] here.
>After all he owns us and we had better answer HIS questions, especially since he wont answer ours.
He owns us? How so?
Actually he DID answer their questions; except when it came to the ‘specific store’ one... and that one because he didn’t know yet. {Have you ever taken a girl to the mall? ...you can get dragged to the strangest places.}
*’way’, not ‘was.’
The supervisor was fine. The only problem I had was his not articulating the obvious reason this guy was detained. See all the above.
Nazis?? Gimme a break.
“Wait, what? I cant even parse this; I dont know what youre trying to say [or ask] here.”
Humph. I’ve seen that limp dodge before. You must use it in every discussion...gonna have to look. You might try reading others’ posts twice....to help you understand things better. But I don’t think you’re really wanting to hear anyone’s voice but your own.
See ya.
What’s ironic is that there are about 1500 miles of unpatroled border from Washington to Minnesota where anyone can just stroll across, in either direction. Very similar to our Southern border.
