Cheh (D-Ward 3) has proposed a 1-cent-per-ounce tax on bottled and canned soda along with other sugary drinks to pay for her healthy schools initiative. They can only do a tax raise like this in a place like DC, a one party place. Any other place they try to pull this people will rebel.
When you go to the supermarket, and a two liter soda suddenly costs 70 cents more, that’s the kind of thing that gets the attention of people that voted for Obama because he “seemed like a nice guy and he’s going to give us all houses”.
Don’t touch my cola.
We have some very active teenagers, and if it wasn't for diet soda we'd probably lose our minds. We find sales when it's being sold for 99 cents a 2-liter, and we stock up. When all of them are home, we go through four 2-liters (a little over 2 gallons) a day.
That wouldn't be a 30% increase. That would be a 68% increase. Fortunately, we live in Illinois where corruption and greed reign supreme in Chicago and Springfield, but you can steer clear of it.
Looking forward to the Blagojevich trial -- it should be a lot of fun ...
