QUALIFIED? YES.

"Because the Constitution does not set any qualifications for service as a Justice, the President may nominate anyone to serve. However, that person must receive the confirmation of the Senate."

Elena Kagan bio.

Isn’t it truly revealing on the differences in qualifications of Kagan as Solicitor General compared to such as Ted Olsen.

Everytime we look around, Obama appoints much less experienced, and more academically-oriented people.

"Qualified?" should always & only be the first question. E.g., Stuart Smalley is qualified to be a U.S. Senator. So is the high school drop-out flipping burgers. That is an objective but demonstrably lame minimum for nominating someone for high office.

The follow-up that has to be asked is, are they suitable? Sadly, that is a subjective question, but it is the most important. And I am sure that reasonable people with a shred of intellectual honesty (i.e., non-Democrat) would have to concede that neither Kagan nor Sotomayor are suitable as USSC justices.

Obviously, the Suitability requirement didn't stop Sonia, and the Qualified requirement didn't stop Obama. So the sad lesson is that all bets are off, and ANY Bozo can attain ANY office when this party is running the government, unchecked.

My apologies to Bozo - no offense intended.
