I have been following the GOP Senate primary race for some time. I had studied the candidates and after awhile I came to the conclusion that I wanted to support Chuck DeVore in that race. I followed his campaign, saw him give a speech last month, and even gave him some of my paycheck.
My opinion changed today after Sarah Palin gave her endorsement to DeVore’s challenger, Carly Fiorina. It wasn’t Governor Palin’s endorsement that got me to change my mind about him, it was his reaction to the endorsement that served as a big red flag warning to this man’s leadership capabilities. Plain and simple, Chuck DeVore is no statesmen. The statement he allowed to be released by his campaign was immature and derogatory. It said:
“This grassroots movement is actually a grassroots movement,” said DeVore spokesperson Joshua Trevino. “Carly Fiorina thinks she can find the sheepdog to corral the sheep. Chuck DeVore knows they’re not sheep at all. They’re Americans. And they’ll make their own decisions.”

The problem with your rridiculous claim is that the polls show DeVore ahead of Babs. If DeVore is having trouble in the primary it is because of people like you, who are also a good deal of what is wrong with CA.

How thick are you guys, that poll of possible match ups in a future election is meaningless in any sense, but no matter what, only one of these three will ever face Boxer.
Do you understand that this primary is the actual, real life election, and Devore never happened, his campaign never took off, he is not going to get out of this primary, the pro-life/NRA Fiorina is the only one that can defeat the proabortion/gay marriage, Tom Campbell.
You don't have to like it, but quit this insane game of the Boxer match up fantasy.
By the way, the polls do not show any of them beating "Babs" at this point, although Fiorina does better than Devore,I don't know where you got that.
This is my Tom Campbell story.
I live in Almaden Valley & so does Tom.
A few years ago, our school district decided to close my kids’ school because the district was losing enrollment. Now, enrollment was actually going up in our area, and going way down in the poor parts of the district.
Also, my kids’ school had the 5th highest test scores in the district out of 31 elementary schools. There were other schools that were horrible.
So, we parents started a campaign to split the district. We had a petition drive. We ran into Campbell at the grocery store at one of those drives. After meeting us, he sent a letter of support for us to our district. He tried getting some financial information from the district. It didn’t work, but he did try. He also gave us lots of information about how to open a charter school.
Anyway, I was highly impressed with him. He took a lot of time with us.
I’ve run into him several more times since then. He is always very kind to everyone that works at the grocery store. He’s not uppity (like some politicians are).
I have no doubt that Campbell will be heads and tails better than Boxer.
Personally, I like him. My husband really likes Campbell also, and my husband is very conservative. On the issues, I agree with Devore. I’ve never met Devore, so I can’t go with anything personal with him.
I’ve heard negative things about Carly for years, so she is out of the question. I’ve heard good things about Meg Whitman for years.
A poll of future match ups is far from meaningless, which is why they are conducted. This is a newer poll than the one I was referring to, which showed everyone beating Babs. But if everyone is now behind Babs, then you might as well support the proven conservative...
Do you really think if Fiorina goes to D.C. that after a while on the cocktail party/dinner party circuit that she is going to lead or even materially support all those “backward, icky” social conservative positions that she somehow never found the intellectual and moral courage to defend before she decided that life after being forced out of HP was boring?
We already know she isn’t much of a fiscal conservative because she supported the bailouts and isn’t on record as far as I know opposing the 2009 CA tax increases. I’d rather trust Romney on abortion and guns...AND I DON’T TRUST ROMNEY AT ALL.
Fiorina is an empty skirt, an affirmative action accident who spent her time at HP “meeting the press” because she didn’t know how to run the company. She likes being in the limelight and that is the reason she is running. If Boxer had retired, Fiorina probably would have run as a Dem. Her support of the racial shakedown racket is a clear indication of that.
I believe you are sincere and desperate to have a social and fiscal conservative to face Boxer, but Carly Fiorina isn’t it. Yes, you can quote her campaign positions, but these are views that were NEVER in evidence before, and she has a reputation as a treacherous liar. There are many on this board who know what kind of person she really is - and they commented on it before Fiorina decided that she would enjoy being a Senator.

I know his weaknesses and his strengths.
Like I’ve said, I stand with Devore on the issues. However, the battle is between Fiorino and Campbell, and I choose Campbell over Fiorino. I don’t trust her. I have not liked her for years. I guess I have too many friends from HP.
