I have been following the GOP Senate primary race for some time. I had studied the candidates and after awhile I came to the conclusion that I wanted to support Chuck DeVore in that race. I followed his campaign, saw him give a speech last month, and even gave him some of my paycheck.
My opinion changed today after Sarah Palin gave her endorsement to DeVores challenger, Carly Fiorina. It wasnt Governor Palins endorsement that got me to change my mind about him, it was his reaction to the endorsement that served as a big red flag warning to this mans leadership capabilities. Plain and simple, Chuck DeVore is no statesmen. The statement he allowed to be released by his campaign was immature and derogatory. It said:
This grassroots movement is actually a grassroots movement, said DeVore spokesperson Joshua Trevino. Carly Fiorina thinks she can find the sheepdog to corral the sheep. Chuck DeVore knows theyre not sheep at all. Theyre Americans. And theyll make their own decisions.

This is the pull quote, I agree.
I’m not a Californian (thank god!) but my question to DeVore is....”If you are so good, why such a small amount of support?”
But I do not understand this article at all. This seems to be the big quote:
This grassroots movement is actually a grassroots movement, said DeVore spokesperson Joshua Trevino. Carly Fiorina thinks she can find the sheepdog to corral the sheep. Chuck DeVore knows theyre not sheep at all. Theyre Americans. And theyll make their own decisions.
Seriously -- how is that immature? How is that derogatory? Am I stupid? I just don't see what the fuss is all about.
When Sarah Palin backed John McCain I wrote it off to gratitude.
Now that she’s endorsed Carly Fiorina, I think Sarah just sides with her fellow RINOs. Birds of a feather flock together. We need a real conservative to run for POTUS in 2012, and regrettably it isn’t Sarah.
MY VIEW OF PALINS FIORINA ENDORSEMENT FROM CALIFORNIA:
Carly Fiorina ran HP into the ground because she lacks the business acumen to run a blue chip company. Sarah Palin let litigious liberal lawyers run her into the ground up in Alaska. Incompetence often finds a camaraderie in politics.
“my question to DeVore is....If you are so good, why such a small amount of support?
Because California Rs are RINOs, and those that aren’t are the cowardly type who would pick the “lesser of two evils” and would vote for a Romney or a McCain if they were ahead of a real conservative in the polls. You can’t rebuild a conservative base in California if all people do is focus on the short term.
Palin should have endorsed DeVore, and even if he lost to Babs, conservatives would be better positioned for the future because he would have had a platform to articulate a message that Californians don’t hear. He also could have strengthened conservative structures and groups within the party. What is happening now in CA is exactly how they ended up with Arnold instead of someone like McClintock.
I’d vote third party before I’d vote for Fiorina.
I think you are incorrect about Gov Palin leaving Alaska. There is little a person can do, when people sue you accept to defend yourself.
The quote is nothing but the honest statement that the people are not sheep, will think for themselves and (and least one hopes) not jump on a bandwagon simply because Palin finds some advantage to making an endorsement.
that means very little... especially here in California... small amount of support does not mean that someone is not a good candidate... i'm not saying Chuck DeVore is a good candidate, just that his lack of support doesn't mean much in that regard...
I see the “Ahnold” vote all over again. This is how California missed out on a great governor (McClintock) Backing someone because they think that they can win vs. they think he’s the right person for the job. The GOP will back Fiorina with their usual tepid support and on the wildly outside chance that she wins, they’ll get a reliably leftist voting squishy republican loser.
I wish I were in a position to vote for Chuck...
Little a person can do when people sue you except to defend yourself?
Well, couldn’t you resign and move away and see if they’ll drop the lawsuit? Might that work?
Oh yes. Not being a sheep means I get to agree or not agree with statements, unlike the people who don’t like Gov Palin and go with “anything she says must be wrong”.
hear, hear! i think Tom McClintock is living proof that you can have the most excellent candidate in California, and still not enough support... wish we had more Tom McClintocks, and Republicans who were brave enough to vote for such candidates...
Actually, Palin could have sat this one out, and then endorsed whoever won the republican primary.
I love Sarah.
And she may have some realpolitik reason for endorsing Carly and thats fine.
I tried to give Carly the benefit of the doubt but her soft and confused response to the immigration issue has torn it for me. She could have gone bold and defended our position, but she didn’t, she fears making any kind of bold statement on that issue. But I’m not looking for yet another Repub who is trying to sneak into office, I’m looking for Repubs who know what they believe and are not afraid to stand up and persuade others. The very thing I like about Palin, her willingness to boldly defend positions that are right but unpopular in the press, is the thing that disappoints me in Fiorina. She is, like Meg Whitman, trying to be on all sides of this issue at the same time.
I support Chuck DeVore. There was nothing wrong with his response.
Yep.
Thank you. Amen. That would have been the right response, and had she endorsed Fiorina at that point it would have been normal and obvious, and she could have done it without undercutting the conservative in the race who would already have fallen away. After the primary you support the best of whoever is left.
Don’t understand why people get upset by a Palin endorsement of someone. Regardless of whom she chooses, she’s not going to please everyone. We are all adults, support the person you want to support. Read the articles and then go on. God has said that one day we will all understand all of this - maybe he was including Sarah’s plan under that big umbrella too.
Have you ever heard DeVore speak?
Yeah, he's right on the issues.
However, he's going NOWHERE. He's not electable, not because of his political positions, but because of who he is.
Firorina is a good enough (c)onservative with the money and "star power" to win.
Can you name political position of hers that you disagree with?
