It's always nice to go away. You get to take stock of what you've been doing and make promises to yourself that this time -- for real -- you're going to eat right, exercise, cut back on the martinis (ahem) and focus on the important stuff. And then you come home to a story so delicious that you can't resist putting off the important stuff for a little while longer.

I'm talking about the utterly ridiculous law that would allow Hawaiian state officials to ignore repeated requests for President Obama's birth certificate. That the Aloha State felt compelled to do this shows how it has been inundated with requests from folks out there who lack the ability to focus on what really matters. Come on, people! Obama was born in the United States. His mother was American, to boot. Get over it.

The Los Angeles Times blog, Top of the Ticket, does a great service by highlighting this news. It reprints in glorious color Obama's Certificate of Live Birth. The post also notes that twice since 2008, the state's health director has publicly vouched for the existence and the authenticity of the actual birth certificate.(continued)

Just the fact that some officials in the State of Hawaii feel the need to have to create such a freakish law to deflect simple everyday requests of information on the government of the US, is proof in itself that Obama is hiding something from the people.

That the WP says this is a correct action to be taken needs to be weighed against what their opinion would be if the shoe was on the other foot and this issue was about Palin instead of Obama.

Could anyone seriously say the MSM would have the exact same attitude if this was about Palin?

I can’t help but wonder if Obama is indeed a natural born citizen, and the problem with proving it is that it will require revealing a birth certificate that will show his father to be some American citizen rather than Barack Sr., thereby tainting his carefully crafted mythology.

It's not only Obama keeping these documents locked tightly under ironclad security; there obviously are others (multiple) complicit in making certain these documents never see the light of day. Americans are not dumb, nor are they likely to let this matter go away - not now, not until Obama does the very simple, very easy for him to do, display of what is required of him by the US Constitution (that he chooses to ignore and wants to discard).

He is, by own doing (or refusal thereof) inviting the continuous questioning he is presently receiving by millions upon milllions of Americans - with the number of inquiries increasing daily. If his educational documents show him to be a "foreign" student, that alone could explain his failure to address the matter that will not go away for hiim or those who failed to fully vet him (democrat, republican and media).
