Evangelical Explorers Claim To Have Found Noah's Ark

Yeung Wing-Cheung, from the Noah's Ark Ministries International research team that made the discovery on Mount Ararat in Eastern Turkey, said: "It's not 100 percent that it is Noah's Ark, but we think it is 99.9 percent that this is it."

According to Genesis 8:4, once the flood waters receded Noah’s Ark “came to rest on the mountains of Ararat.” That is where the team of Chinese and Turkish Evangelical Christians found what they believe to be the famed Ark.

The group says that carbon dating proves the relics found are 4,800 year old which correlates to the time-frame given in the Bible for the Ark.

I put that reference to the article in there, just to show the variety of opinion out there... but I should make it clear that while I’m not satisfied that this “discovery” is valid (i.e., that they’ve actually found what they say it is) — there is no question in my mind about the validity of the existence of the ark and exactly the details as described in the Bible and that there was a world-wide flood in which only 8 human beings in the entire world survived (along with the number of animals mentioned).

I’m not disputing the validity of what the Bible says about that — it’s only the validity of the current “find” and whether it’s really that ship or not.

AND... if this is not the one... someday it may be found, or it may not as it could have been taken apart and used for building materials at the time they had to survive in a new environment after the flood, too.

But, in any case, the Bible account is accurate, and is true in all its details...

Well, so much for religious belief, but, consider this: If one accepts the idea that G-d created the universe, a place of inconceivable magnitude and complexity, it would be a breeze for Him to create and manipulate the fabric of any part of creation in any way He might desire. We call this a miracle. According to most Jewish bible commentators, the Ark, like the flood, was a miraculous vessel, quite capable of serving its purpose of preserving human and animal life.

I’m not preaching, just addressing the internal logic of the Bible and those who take it literally.

It would also be a breeze for Him to make dragons, fairies, trolls magic carpets, etc...but that doesn’t mean He did.
