Here is video of Ann Coulter being asked if she wants Sarah Palin to run for President. Coulter said:

"I do love her, but I think I prefer her doing what she's doing now, at which she's spectacular. She's making a lot of money and she's having a great life. She has - she's giving all this energy to the base of the Republican Party - the Conservative Movement."

Coulter was answering questions after a speech she gave at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

“As for Palin, I would be more comfortable with her if she had had more experience either in business or government.”

Sarah is highly effective at energizing the conservative base, and that would be her most fitting role. Frankly, I wouldn’t blame her for taking a hard look at the whole intractable mess and saying “thanks but no thanks.”

If I had to guess, I'd say that Sarah will not run. But I also think that she is keeping her options open.

Unfortunately the Dems have done a really good hit-job on her. She may be damaged beyond repair with independent voters.

On the other, other hand, Sarah Palin retains a lot of influence with the Republican voter. She may be able to influence who the eventual nominee is just by keeping open the possibility that she may jump in as (check one): a candidate for Prez, a VP runningmate for her favorite, or a 3rd party candidate if a Rhino looks to take the nomination.

She doesn't need to actually do one of these things... just publically entertain the idea. The Media will do the rest, and the oxygen will be sucked out of the room... and Sarah Palin gets her conservative way by mis-direction.

I don’t profess to be superior to anyone, intellect or otherwise. I do, however, reserve the right to observe what I see in those people who hope to lead the country which I love.

I post articles here quite frequently, mostly because I find a topic interesting and like to see what other FReepers think. I enjoy the back and forth of FR precisely because we do not all agree.

If you research my posts right after Palin was nominated, you will see I was a supporter. I went to the first rally after the GOP convention in Cedarburg, Wi. The more I see of her, the less Presidential she seems to me. That is my opinion and I do not ask or expect others to agree.

My observation about what Coulter thinks of Palin was based on my being at her speech last night, and I admit I may be wrong. The way Coulter worded her answers to two questions from obvious Palin supporters was telling to me.

Drill baby Drill, may be a good campaign slogan, but it is not a serious policy statement

Reagan had slogans, and he backed them up with in depth thinking.

If you didn't listen to her speech about energy, then you can be forgiven for saying she doesn't have a serious policy grasp about energy. However, it shows you don't know what you're talking about. It was the substance behind "drill, baby, drill" and it was excellent.

You are falling into the same trap you say Reagan suffered from, believing blindly (because someone said so) she has no substance. She probably knows more about energy policy than 99.9% of the socalled experts.

I agree with Ann. I love Sarah too, saw her in Boston last week But, I’d prefer for her to excite the base....she’d be great as the RNC Chair! I believe here time came and went unfortunately the wrong candidate got into our beloved White House.

Wrong.

The Romney supporters have left the building..........

Hit and run. They didn't stay around to discuss, just sniffed at the distaste of the unwashed supporters or that rube Sarah. The mere suggestion that Ann supports Mitt was enough to make them think we were eeeevil attack dogs.

I love Annie but she has long been a Myth supporter. Palin is far more qualified to run for President than any current GOP. Who has been leading the conservative fight? Who does the marxist media fear the most and attack the most?

Coulter has been bought and paid for by Romney, Inc.
The tentacles of Romney, Inc. is very pervasive within big Conservative Communication circles.

Coulter is a wolf in sheep clothing.

I don’t know if Sarah would be the best candidate....so in that regard I can somewhat agree with Ann. However, I suspect that Ann is not driven by logic, but by her support of Romney - a terrible mistake as a candidate. So, until Ann Coulter publically ditches Romney....she has no credibility with me.

The population of Wasilla in the 2000 census was 5469. This isn't exactly a huge metropolis.

But...Of all the possible Republican contenders for the nomination, at the moment, I like Palin the best.

If the Repubs decide on Romney, I will have a very very hard time pulling the lever for him, and my objections to him have nothing to do with his religion. He is a big time RINO.

He pushed GW harder, but then again, I guess he had less confidence in Thompson? Rush said he wasn’t thrilled with any of them.

Actually she was wearing a very short black dress last night, not a wolf outfit. She made a couple comments about Romney and I would say the room was LESS than enthused with the idea of Mitt. When pressed by a questioner, she said she had supported people in the past who had no chance of winning, and that if Republicans wanted to win the POTUS in 2012, they had to have a viable candidate.

The little tease line she got in about Chris Christie was interesting to me. She said since we have a pencil thin, big earred POTUS now, why not elect a chubby one the next time. She said with a little weight watchers diet, he would be fine. She said if he can be successful taking on the entrenched union interests in NJ, then he could be a serious candidate in 2012. As I said before, her comments about Romney struck me as more resigned to the idea than enthusiastic about it. The audible groans in the audience when she mentioned Mitt were a good sign that mainstream American conservatives wants to look elsewhere in 2012. We’re just not that into him anymore, he was a credible alternative to McSane in 2008, but we want much more in 2012.

“It darn well better be a governor for crying out loud.”

Palin carries the momentum at this point,I just do not see anyone that can fill her shoes emerging anytime soon.

Coulter used facts in her answers, not generalities. I agree Mark Levin is brilliant, but anyone who does an honest evaluation of Sarah Palin would realize she is not an intellectual. She has charisma, and a folksy charm, but to me that is not nearly enough...

"Not an intellectual..." just wondering, is that supposed to be a criticism?

It rings a familiar tone, one I remember from the '70s...who was it the "intellectuals" were talking about?

You familiar with the phrase, "good old boy?"

People said the same thing about Reagan but perhaps it depends on your definitions of "intellectual".
