WarOnGuns Correspondent Mike S sent me the following policy and I have confirmed it with Fuddrucker's/KooKooRoo Chicken Bistro management:
Regarding the open carry laws, Fuddruckers decision not to allow guns in the restaurants is not a statement about gun rights or laws. It is however, a statement about the primary importance of creating and maintaining a comfortable environment for all of Fuddruckers guests.
Open carry laws are changing in various states. Therefore, restaurants are more clearly communicating their policies to guests. Fuddruckers has had a no weapons policy for several years but it wasn't being enforced in all locations. By enforcing its no-weapons policy, Fuddruckers is enforcing its rights as a private business to create the sort of dining environment we believe best suits and appeals to all or the majority of our guests.
OK, fine. Fuddruck you, too.
I always thought their food was over priced.
Why are they worried about guns? Fuddrucker’s food will kill you quickly enough.
Obviously Fuddruckers will be much safer now, because armed robbers will not dare to defy this policy.
Idiots.
Comfortable environment? Placing myself in danger by trapping myself in a “gun free” establishment is not very comforting.
Their 5,000 calorie fatburgers are deadly weapons to the eater.
Exactly!
Exactly. I haven’t been to a Fuddrucker’s in several years.
I have no problem with a private property owner banning guns (or whatever) from its property.
As long as the restaurant chain isn’t campaigning against gun rights, beyond the walls of its restaurants, I would not even boycott them.
Of course, if people feel unsafe in a “gun free” zone (which means a zone where the criminals are armed and the law abiding citizens are not), or greatly prefer having their guns with them when they eat, they should consider avoiding Fuddruckers.
There’s one right around the corner from where I’m sitting. Stopped going there a little over a year ago. My Spanish isn’t good enough to place an order.....
Damn!!!!I go to Fuddruckers about every five years....what will I do...what will I do!!!!
(I support the right of private property owners to control their property, and the right of freedom of association, for people who oppose their policy to avoid them.)
But it is not private protery. It is a commercially licensed business. It is licensed to operate in that State If the Stae allows open carry then it is an open carry State and a gun onwer needs to go in be refused service and them sue these assclowns.
as long as the owner has a good scrubber system, I agree. 6 years ago I was in Vegas and it was still legal to smoke in casinos, the best casinos scrubbers were so good as to make the smoke almost undetectable.
but if I get a job in a restaurant, I dont want to breathe smoke...and I think a scrubber is the only good reason to allow smoking in restaurants....
I agree. I can easily see how someone who is pro-gun, might otherwise not want guns brought on to their property by others.
its just getting to the point where i have no reason to walk into a restaurant anymore. no guns, no smoking, can’t have more than 1 drink or you’re over limit anyway.. might as well sit home and grill.
which really sucks because i’m a bartender- and i know there will be too many people that think the same way and will quit coming in. (MI smoking ban- starts in 2 weeks)
Damn!
And I used to work there over 20 years ago.
Oh, well. Red Robin wil get my business when I go to lunch this afternoon.
If there is ever an incident at a Fuddrucker’s and they need to call the police, they had better tell the police to keep their guns covered so they can maintain their “comfortable environment”.
