The suspected involvement of organized crime in Macau gambling operations is presenting thorny issues for Nevada gaming regulators as Las Vegas-based companies flock to Asia in pursuit of greature treasure as reported by Liz Benston for the Las Vegas Sun:
Organized crime was entrenched in Macau's gambling industry before Nevada companies began operating there in 2004, they say. Unlike the mob, which was eventually phased out of casinos through a combination of regulatory enforcement and changes in financing rules, organized crime is alive and well in Macau, they say. New Jersey regulators say it taints MGM Mirage's Macau operation, while Reuters news agency last month reported that an Asian mob figure ran a gambling room inside Sands Macau. Some critics say Nevada regulators aren't doing their jobs when it comes to Macau operations, while regulators say they are doing as much as their jobs allow which doesn't include being able to dictate how Macau's government regulates casinos.
The issue is not whether Nevada has the power to regulate Macau operations; rather, it's whether Nevada should allow Las Vegas-based companies with ties to questionable individuals in Macau to continue conducting business within the Silver State.

This links to Harry Reid. I just finished writing my book on Reid which goes through some of this - specifically about Pansy Ho. I actually inadvertently worked for Stanley Ho on a Hong Kong deal.
Stanley is the billionaire who made his money doing gaming and prostitution in Macau.
When Harry Reid bailed out CityCenter, he was also bailing out the Ho family as well as Dubai World.
I have Harry on at least two counts of bribery, not that anyone would be interested. See my tagline for book information.
Good on ya, Dax.
