In a day of ever-growing moral collapse and turmoil in Washington D.C. and our nation, the American Religious Right have been linking up together more and more on current social and moral issues called pro-natural laws. Many of the American Religious Right have even put aside sound Biblical teaching and eternal spiritual absolutes of time and eternity in favor of a greater "social unity with those who do not hold to such doctrines (Deut. 22:10; 2 Cor. 6:14; Eph. 5:6-8).
Such godless and decadent social squeezing by the Left in America has been the very catalyst for an apostate ecumenical union among the ARR. I have found that many conservatives in the Religious Right are quite willing to compromise Biblical truth in their attempt to make the Bible more relevant and "palatable. In fact, when push comes to shove, these really DO NOT believe the clear Scriptural teachings regarding salvation and ones indispensable need for a personal relationship with the Christ of Holy Scripture (Matt. 7:21-23; John 3:36; Jude 1:10). While they are quite dogmatic on the social, moral and fiscal issues in terms of Natural Law, they are NOT so dogmatic about the authority of Almighty Gods Infallible Word (Heb. 10:29; 2 Peter 2:1; 3:16).

These are stong words. Such accusations should be backed up with facts at a more detailed level. By talking at the 100,000 foot level, the author went over my head and was unable to get their point across to me.
I become more amazed with each passing day how many who claim the name of Christ forget what He told us:
My kingdom is not of this world." (John 18:36)
And
"Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away." (Matthew 24:35).
This current world system will pass into history and nowhere in Scripture did Jesus ever tell His people to try to "save" it or "make it better".
We are to share with people the Gospel; we are to tell people the good news that a Savior has come and there is an escape from the consequences of sin.
This world system will end and it will end soon. It's sad to see Christians who should know better being deceived into focusing their attention on a decaying and doomed world and attempting to improve on it, something that will not happen, rather than trying to win as many people to Christ as possible.
"Making this world better" is impossible and Jesus never ever told us to attempt it.
My friend, the simple fact is that many people believe in the moral laws of which the Bible speak on but.. They reject the clear teaching that “All have sinned and have fallen short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23). They believe by applying and practicing moral virtue that that is going get them into heaven (Romans 10:2-4). This rational is called a works doctrine. The Bible clearly teaches that we are saved by faith alone in what Jesus Christ has done for us by dying on the cross for our sins and trespasses against the righteous perfection of Almighty God (Romans 5:1, 10:2-4).
That crucial truth is what they make relevant. There is only one Jesus and not many.
May Friend, take this simple test and if you truly want to comprehend what we wee trying to say this little study will help you.

Then may I ask why are you on Free Republic where the focus is on changing and saving our country? No judgement on you or anything but why waste time here when you’re major goal is to win people to the Lord and not be concerned with politics?
The article, by insinuating there is something incorrect with the religious right, peaked my interest. My reading of the article left me with my questions unanswered.
I do agree that the focus is to be on eternal salvation, not an earthly kingdom. Man does not have to make earth perfect for Christ's return, and that is a good thing.
Amen... you get it my FRiend..that all we were trying to say.
All of God’s highest and best for you!

God bless you!
‘No judgement on you or anything but why waste time here when youre major goal is to win people to the Lord and not be concerned with politics?’
These folks seem to be wanting to go back to the pre-Reagan days when evangelicals stayed out of civic affairs and left the country to Satan.
Politics is the only option of discussion on Free Republic?
To forget the teachings of the bible is one thing; but just because we are Christians does not mean to give up on everything else.
What would have happened if our founding fathers(who where Christians)did nothing? or if Lincoln did nothing? or if the USA did nothing about Hitler? If everybody just said, we are christians and should not get involved in politics, or war?
Go back to your left wing cave.
You are indeed, an ignorant fisherman.
The left is behind this complete ignorance.
"If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.... If they persecuted Me they will persecute you... for they do not know the One who sent Me." (John 15:19-21)
This topic of Christians straying away from Scripture in working with those who do not accept Scripture as literal truth to try to "make the world a better place" strays into the realm of prophecy, especially as it applies to America, and the fact that America must decline in order for the revived Roman Empire to gain power and for Bible prophecy to be fulfilled, which it will.
I hate to see this as much as anyone; I'm old enough to remember America the way it used to be. But we must accept reality- we are at the point where the only hope is in Jesus Christ, not making futile attempts to resuscitate dying political and world systems. All man made world systems are going to end, including political systems, and we are in the process of witnessing that demise worldwide.
Yes, this is extremely unpopular and those who tell others of the fact of the soon return of Jesus Christ will come under withering attack by an anti-God world.
You are doing the right thing- you are doing your part to get the truth out and there are some who will see and will come to Christ.
And that, after all, is what Christians are called to do.
Many who work toward saving the USA seem to be seeking the restoration of Mayberry RDF, not first the kingdom of God.
Those who seek God’s will to be done on earth as it is in Heaven will be part of the “sigh and cry” ministry (Ezek. 9:4) and will seek to turn many to righteousness (Dan. 12:3) thru repentance and faith in the Lord Jesus, (Acts 20:21) for the glory of God. That must be the driving motivation, which gives order to all else. It does not preclude working to solve social evils, as the effects of the 2nd Great Awakening worked toward the abolition of slavery, and in which Christians may support others of a different faith, if not spiritual doctrine is compromised, but that is a secondary pursuit.
The political side is secondary to the spiritual, yet insofar as conservatism goes, an increasing number of conservatives seem to suppose it came out of bottle, and that the effects of a living (not institutionalized) Christianity and its evangelicalism were and are not crucial to the real greatness of a nation. And more importantly, to the salvation of souls.
Early on, in a pamphlet for Europeans titled Information to Those Who Would Remove to America (1754), Benjamin Franklin wrote, in part:
...serious religion, under its various denominations, is not only tolerated, but respected and practiced. Atheism is unknown there; Infidelity rare and secret; so that persons may live to a great age in that country without having their piety shocked by meeting with either an Atheist or an Infidel. And the Divine Being seems to have manifested His approbation of the mutual forbearance and kindness by which the different sects treat each other, and by the remarkable prosperity with which He has been please to favor the whole country.
Alexis de Tocqueville commented,
The Americans combine the notions of Christianity and of liberty so intimately in their minds, that it is impossible to make them conceive the one without the other; and with them this conviction does not spring from that barren traditionary faith which seems to vegetate in the soul rather than to live. - Democracy in America, Volume I Chapter XVII (1835)
Os Guinness comments that,
while America has never officially been a Christian Republic, for much of its history the Christian faith has been a leading contribution to its unofficial civil religion.

Not at all but it just seems strange to bring that topic to Free Republic when changing and helping our country is the reason we’re all on here. I will also add that most of us are Christians and are very aware of the coming of the Lord and the importance of leading people to him but also believe we can make a difference while we are here.
thanks..that there... is a complement!! Acts 4:14
