The most comfortable gun in my grip is my Beretta 92, the next and which to me is more accurate in shot placement even against the Beretta is my Sig Sauer P220 in .45, its so accurate its simply point and shoot like its an extension of my hand.

Good advice, and there are some good deals on weapons to be had out there. Local used gun websites can be an excellent place to pick up an extra 12 GA, or another 30.06; something that uses the common ammunition you should already have stocked in quantity. Lots and lots of good, clean handguns are out there too, it just takes a little bit of looking.

When the rubber meets the road it would be nice to make sure that guy next to you has something besides his Johnston in his hand...

That’s what the Moisin-Nagants are for. I think they all do have handguns.

Yep, that SS P220 is a real sweet hand gun.

Then print this out and give it to your neighbors.

Any neighbor worth having is already well armed.

All the rest are on their own.

JMHO.

I wish it was stainless, but for anyone about to make a first purchase stainless is good but its not necessary.

I actually prefer parkerized or the finishes that Glock use.

If I was in a dark situation and I wanted to be concealed something big and shiny in my hand is not a good idea, of course one could use some dark latex paint, so it can be easily removed.

"I hope it never come to that, but if it does, sooner rather than later, I’m gettin’ old."

I know the feeling. Been three times 'round the world. Survived several bush wars and two heart attacks...so far. Know what? I'm just now gettin' cantankerous enough to hang in there a bit longer. Just to be contrary.

As John Steinbeck once said, "Never pick a fight with an old man. If he's too old to fight, he'll just kill ya'."
Words to live by.

Same thoughts here.

I had a job doing some steel fabrication yesterday, my original time estimate was several days, I was so pissed off at myself for all my aches and pains cutting steel and being on my knees for half the day welding I finished the job just to get the dam thing done with.

look at the Saiga carbine. It’s the “sport” version of the AK and you can get it in .223, 7.62, 410ga and 12ga. It’s cheap and pretty much indestructable. Try gunbrokers.com

Another way to go....

Ruger P89 with hi-cap mags and (if you can find one) a Ruger PC89, it's carbine brother. They shoot the same ammo from the same mags. Very convenient if you don't have to hit anything more than 200 yds away.

I’ve gone through this mental process a dozen times. I’ve only got two neighbors I think I could count on enough to consider arming from my cache. One a Marine. The other former infantry in Peru.

Home Defense Shotgun.

You DEFINITELY want that before you start looking at rifles.

Remington, Winchester and Mossberg all make good pumps in 12ga with anywhere from 6 to 8 round tubes.

Buy two, they're cheap.
