The word that jumped out at me was “when” and not “if”. Do you know something I don’t know? If it’s just an oppinion I share it with you. Dire times are ahead and I don’t think it will be long before we’re all living in Detroit or Memphis.
I just picked up three Hi-Point 9mm pistols specifically for the purpose arming friends/relatives. They were $250 apiece brand new; they’re easy to use, tough as hell, and reliable.
In my not so humble opinion, you only want to help people you know who have the same value system you have and who otherwise “think like you”.
Now exactly what “think like you” means is probably different for different people, but for me it simply means that they believe in freedom, have respect for others and take personal responsibility for getting things done and not expect other people to do things for them or to give them things for free.
I have talked to several people I know about preparing for “What-If” scenarios. Some of them have said things like their survival plans are to come and stay with me.
It is probably not a good idea to arm people who are too stupid and/or too lazy to do the work to prepare.. If lazy unprepared idiots showed up at my door wanting me to provide for them and I had to tell them what I really thought of them and to get lost or else, I certainly would prefer that they be unarmed or not as well armed as they could be with my help.
People who are otherwise preparing and who live within their means are a good bet to help out if they need advice on a gun or guns, though.
I think if I were to arm my neighbors they would accidentally shoot me in the rear.
I do have a co-worker that was an MP in the service, IF it came down to a situation I might be comfortable to offering him something from my collection.
It might be better to have something around thats basically cheap and disposable if a friend or neighbor were to ask, and most of all no connections to come back to you in case it were to be something of a nasty interest down the road.
I have exactly TWO pieces that actually have records, a .44 Redhawk I had to pawn once and a Ruger .338 I bought new over the counter.

Academy sports had these on sale for $199.00
(The top one)
I got one months ago when you posted about this. I went to the range with my sons, they thought it was so much fun to shoot, that they each got one and I got another. I have enough to share with neighbors, but I don’t need to. I don’t know a single person within a 2 mile radius that is a raging liberal. If they did vote for him, they aren’t admitting it now.
Hard to beat Mosin-Nagants for price as far as rifles go. They are the rifle the USSR used in WW2. They are full powered battle rifles in 7.62 x 54mm. $80 for a rifle and $80 for 400 rounds of military FMJ ammo all over the ‘net now. $350 will get you 2 rifles and 800-900 rounds of ammo.
Yes, I’m a big fan of John D. MacDonald and the TM series. You might want to check out the first third of my next novel, now posted on my website. “Castigo Cay” is also my first novel written in first person POV.

Im looking to stash an extra pistol and pump shotgun for anyone important who shows up gunless.
Correctamundo.
do the beretta 9mm carbines take the same magazines as the beretta cougar? I think at least one variant does.
A CZ-52 is a hell of a gun for $200, especially when the ammo is so plentiful and cheap.
Im looking for a couple of used Kel Tec P-11 9mm pistols.
Mossberg 500, Remington 870
they make it in 7.62x39
I will, and I hope others do as well.
That works for me. I'm not trying to "win a debate" as much as start a discussion about a subject I don't see much written about.
the person you arm might be someone you never imagined..like a relative who came here or a friend whose home was destroyed by fire or flood.
