“Some called it patronizing and contrived to think that a white family would be so altruistic.”
Somebody’s always gunna find somethin’ wrong with anything. It’s always MUCH easier to tear down, than to build up..
White families were happily adopting black children until liberals (white and black) decided that black children should not be raised "white" but "black" as their parents are.
It's the "black experience" that the child in question, would miss out on, say the libs, so the interracial adoptions were put on the shelf.
This line we hear recently from the black racist that somehow this movie is bad because it shows a black man as being dependent on the good graciousnesss of white people to help him. Well two points. Where were the black people to help this man. Or were they just assuming that that was the governments job. Also, I would add that if you went out to a Habitat For Humanity build on a typical saturday you would likely see a single black mom with maybe one or two kids surrounded by what are mostly white people volunteering to help this black mom build her home. Would these same people also like to condemn Habitat For Humanity?
I don’t know Leigh Anne Tuohy, but I know another white family that raised a black child to become a player in the NBA.
Hey dumb@ss, its a real story. The "some" who call it "patronizing" and don't believe it are anti-white bigots who have been fed "Whitey is the Devil" for decades and willfully eat it up.
Isn’t this a true story?
And there in lies a big problem with blacks. These 'others' that keep to themselves and don't even want to get along don't understand that there really are people like this.
No they didn't.

As for whather Sandra Bullock "blindsided blacks in America" in the movie or not, that is poltically correct garbage.
"It seems that perhaps those who want to see racial stereotypic bogeymen behind every movie screen will see them real or imagined."
Exactly right. Your critique of Chambers is spot on! He describes Michael Oher's character as " nothing more than a large prop"?! Wow, much ignorance there. Did he by chance ask Michael Oher himself that question?
Love your ending Mr. Fobbs ....
Sandra Bullock, great job and great win for a color-blindside for America. Its about time!
“Some called it patronizing and contrived to think that a white family would be so altruistic.”
Where do all those blacks on welfare think they are getting the money, other blacks? LOL!
I guess re-runs of different strokes must be taboo tv for them too.
Thank you.
Didn’t a white woman raise that illegal alien in the White House, and didn’t Halle Berry’s white mother raise her??????????
Aren’t we all at the point where we no longer care about the “black experience” or what blacks have to say? It’s all just so ............... boring.
I would like to thank what this film was about to me. The Moms that take care of the babies and the children, no matter where they come from. Those Moms and parents never get thanked. She then thanked her mom who reminded her daughters that "there is no race , religion or no class system no color, nothing. no sexual orientation that makes us better than anyone else. Were all deserving of love!"

Everything is racism....
"Some called it patronizing and contrived to think that a white family would be so altruistic"
...except hating whitey
One of the most telling moments in the film, for me, was after Michael “Big Mike” had lived with the Tuohys for a while, but Sandra Bullock/Leigh Ann Tuohy SENSED that he was uncomfortable with something. She looked him in the eye and tenderly asked him if there was ANYTHING he didn’t like. His reply: “I don’t like being called Big Mike.” And from that moment on, he was MICHAEL to everyone in the family.
Another great moment was when she went down into the ghetto and found Michael’s mother, and attempted to relate to her and give her some comfort........even though, at one point, his mother broke down and cried when she confessed that she really didn’t know for sure who Michael’s father was!
If the theme is about "Christian love," I think the more compelling story and example is what just about any white person would experience if they showed up in virtually any African-American church anywhere in the country (okay. . maybe not Rev. Wright's church). It just seems, it would be good to explore some of those themes rather than these Gary Coleman retreads. . .okay. .okay. . .whites can love blacks and treat them nice. . .I get it. .I get it. . .I'm not saying the reaction is a correct one. . I'm just saying. . I understand.
“Some called it patronizing and contrived to think that a white family would be so altruistic. Many in the black viewing audience believe that...”
I can name three white families who live within a block of me that have black foster kids. Not surprisingly, they are all active Christians.
