Many of the same news organizations and research groups today dismissing concerns about Barack Obama's constitutional eligibility were far more eager to cover the issue when Republican presidential candidate John McCain was the subject.
An archive search shows the question of McCain's birth certificate and his eligibility to be president was actively pursued by Democratic Party activists and the mainstream media in the run-up to the 2008 presidential election, despite the ridicule now heaped upon those questioning Obama's qualifications under Article II, Section 1 of the Constitution.
In an article published Feb. 28, 2008, months before McCain was nominated for president by the Republican Party, FactCheck.org, at the very center of Obama's defense against eligibility questions, was itself raising them about McCain.

No surprise here.
They are hypocritical slimeballs.
Both McQueeg and Ubama should have been DQ’d.
Then it would have been Myth Romney versus Hitlery.
Face it, 2008 sucked bigtime for this country.
This fits the pattern. What the Libs accuse Conservatives of, the Libs are guilty of it, only an order of magnitude greater.
People need to stop calling them the Democratic Party.
Finally, I’m in sync with the MSM. McCain is not eligible to run for prez!
To the max!!!
ping
Correct.
McCain was born in a foreign country and is not eligible.
You read this stuff about being born in the "zone"--it really doesn't make any difference. The Panama Canal Zone was still in Panama as was the military base.
More important, McCain wasn't born in the Canal Zone either--he was born in a private Hospital in Colon Panama, in an area specifically excluded from the Canal Zone.
He was delivered by a US Military Doctor--does anyone want to argue that delivery by a US Military Doctor in a foreign country is as good as delivery in the geographical territory of the several states?
Agreed. Obama is a native born, but not natural born. Neither were Constitutionally eligible.
Good point.
I can’t tell if people like you are kidding or smoking dope. Whatever the case, you are not funny or factual. Hundreds of babies are born every year to Americans abroad, and not one of them is uneligible to run for Pres. some day.
What's the difference? There's only two ways to become a citizen, either you are natural born or you are naturalized.
Obama’s dad was Kenyan. Obama himself held a dual citizenship until age 21. He is not a natural born citizen.
I know this. You are preaching to the choir.
Boy! You really popped that party balloon fast didn't you? lol
Here is a legal brief written by a law professor and he's not kidding or smoking dope.
