WASHINGTON – As interested students race to beat the fast approaching enrolment deadline, Muslims are turning their sights to the Zaytuna College in California to see if America’s first ever Muslim college will live up to the high expectations.
“We’ve been waiting for this time,” Imam Zaid Shakir, a scholar-in-residence and lecturer at Zaytuna Institute and a co-founded of the college, told IslamOnline.net in an exclusive interview.
“It’s been a long road to get here, Alhamdulillah, and to know that we’re in this final part to getting freshman class set is very exciting.”
Zaytuna College, a brainchild of Sheikh Hamza Yusuf, Imam Shakir and Professor Hatem Bazian, will stop accepting applications for its first freshman class of 2010 on March 1.”

yes and i bet it is lie the school in VA which teaches hatred and how Islam is the best and only the one to follow.
I only hope that we get a decent person elected soon and that person has balls so to speak.
They then come in and say right we have normal marriage,
we will not give more money to companies and no more to ACORN, SEIU unions etc.
We will stop outside funding of religious buildings and groups in this country with their own interest at heart and not Americas interest.
We will get rid of the IRS, TSA and save money there.
we will look at welfare and only give fruit and veggies to those on it and that will be cut too.
Our borders will be secured a hell of a lot more and our laws will be respected by enforcing the law..
We will look into Soros and hand him back to Russia if they still want him.
No more lobbyists
the people will be listened to by sending out elected official to do town hall meetings, no more dodging.
Terrorists will be dealt with in military court if caught here other wise if they are caught on the battle field they will be held over there as POW’s
We will respect our allies and be firm with those who seek to hurt us
I could go on and on but don’t have the time, got some training to do with my son.

At a speech Shakir had given at Northwestern University in Chicago, entitled ‘Jihad: A Just Struggle or Unjust Violence,’ he stated, “We’re not a people who believe in perpetual revolution. We’re a people who believe in perpetual peace, if that’s possible… But if that isn’t possible, then there are circumstances where we are justified to fight.” Also speaking at the event was Ingrid Mattson, the President of the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA). In September of 2002, in an article about the effect of 9/11 on Muslims, Mattson is quoted as saying that it was “logical,” albeit wrong, for terrorists to attack the World Trade Center, since “Israel has attacked and oppressed Palestinians for decades, and Israel gets $3 billion a year in military assistance from the U.S. government.”

The International A.N.S.W.E.R. coalition is an umbrella group tied to the World Workers Party, a Marxist organization that supports authoritarian regimes and communist dictatorships.

SNIPPET: “Who would imagine that a convert to Islam calling himself Hamza Yusuf Hanson, living in the San Francisco Bay Area and in his late ‘40s, would be listed as number 38 among the “Top 50 Muslims in the World” by a leading government body in Jordan? Or that the same Hanson would have announced recently, in grandiose terms, the prospective launch of an American Islamic institution of higher education to be called Zaytuna College, and aimed at becoming a “Muslim Georgetown” in academic prestige?”
SNIPPET: “But the Hamza Yusuf show has few original tricks to offer; he inevitably falls back on his associations with fundamentalists and radicals. In Britain, he has participated in the bizarre, government-funded “Radical Middle Way” (RMW) project which operates “roadshow” tours defending extremist ideology, yet allegedly discouraging violence. In RMW, “Shaykh Hamza” stands alongside such Islamist bigots as Jamal Badawi, author of a famously-retrograde volume, The Status of Woman in Islam, which recommends that females be excluded from political leadership. Badawi, who taught religious studies and is professor emeritus at St, Mary’s University in Nova Scotia, Canada, has also endorsed wife-beating and polygamy.
Other RMW luminaries in Britain include the fundamentalist Swiss theoretician Tariq Ramadan, still ensconced as a senior research fellow at Oxford University although dismissed from municipal and academic positions in The Netherlands.”

But when one examines the new “college” and its programs — promoted by a deceptive website replete with images typical of a normal, functioning campus — one finds that it promises nothing more than the same Arabic language courses, plus studies in Islamic law and theology.”
SNIPPET: “The so-called “Zaytuna College” is merely a more elaborate effort at establishment of a personal madrassa for “Shaykh Hamza.” He would probably shy away from such a description, given the negative connotations of the term in the West. Instead, Zaytuna publicity describes a religious training component as an “Islamic seminary program.””
SNIPPET: “Bazian has a long resume as an extremist, like his radical colleagues Hanson and Shakir, the latter a prominent associate of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), a leading force in America’s Wahhabi lobby of radical Islamist groups. Bazian became a public figure in the San Francisco Bay Area in 1994 when, as former student body president at San Francisco State University, he agitated for a college mural that equated Jewish and American symbols with trading in “African blood.” A decade later, in 2004, Bazian called for an “intifada” in the U.S.”
