The design of the Flight 93 Memorial in Shanksville, Pa. (below left), is almost identical in appearance to the Islamic crescent moon and star symbol (below right) -- yes, the same iconic symbol adorning the flags of no fewer than 11 Muslim countries around the world today.
Nine days after reading about it in NewsBusters, I began sharing my feelings with the world Oct. 6, 2007, in a post about the controversy surrounding the Flight 93 Memorial. Since then, I've been trying to draw attention to the memorial that's allegedly intended to honor the heroic passengers aboard United Flight 93. I use the word "allegedly", because it appears the memorial's design is paying homage to the Muslim terrorists aboard Flight 93 instead of the passengers.
Visit the NPS web site for the memorial, and you'll be challenged to find any imagery that shows an overhead view of the site. Same goes for the private Honor Flight 93 web site set up by the folks raising funds to help pay for the site. Apparently, the people involved in the project recognize the design similarities. In addition, however, they don't want members of the general public to see a "bird's eye" view of it -- lest they get upset like I did.
Before you contact your elected officials in Washington, D.C., to express your outrage, learn more about this insult to the real heroes aboard United Flight 93 that day almost nine years ago, read my other posts below which appear in chronological order:
That is horrible.
If you can’t erect a genuine memorial to Flight 93 then abandon this obscenity.
I was waiting for someone to point this out...however this new logo is consistent with what is going on in your government. Wake up America!!!
Why have all your links been pulled?
I’ve known about the Flight 93 Memorial design and agree it is an anathema.
But, as an aside, not only does the new US Missile defense logo bear a resemblance to Obama’s campaign logo, it also shares the crescent moon and star symbol. Even Pepsi wouldn’t go that far...
By the way, did we get a president or a graphics designer?
Meh, nevermind.
i’m fairly certain i can’t get more angry without hoping into a small airplane and taking a short flight
As you can see, the crescent has been utilized in design for some time. If your going to gripe about something, at least gripe about something worthwhile.
OMG!! Can we GET any more STUPID?????????
