I nearly jumped out of my chair watching the debate on Bill O'Reilly's show last night between Joe Bastardi and Bill Nye. A quick search of the web tells me I wasn't alone. Nye got his lunch eaten. When I get the video, I'll post it here. Fox knows they have something good so it's not released for distribution yet.

Any time I see someone wearing a bow-tie(like Nye), I get suspicious.
Funny how Bastardi was excited about talking about his field of study, yet Nye came across like a POMPOUS, arrogant Professor talking to a bunch of stupid rocks.
Bill Nye .. you lost that one.

My favorite part of the interview was after Joe’s intro with a laundry list of evidence and reasoned argument, Nye’s response was “Well, the evidence is overwhelming PAUSE PAUSE”
I think he thought he could end it there, but when BOR didn’t say anything, he had to start blabbering on and on about 1750 - a total maroon.
If you just landed here from another planet and knew northing about global warming, this single interview would have convinced you that the whole thing is a crock.

I have heard a lot of stupid things in my 60 odd years but Bill Nye’s claim that “global warming” causes volcanos to erupt ranks in the top ten.
I am glad to hear Bastardi won. I hardly understood a word either of them said.
Joe knows. Who do you believe- a meteorologist with a proven track record who’s the real deal or a hollywood science beaker geek reading his lines?
There may actually be some coincidence between rising temperatures and volcanic activity. It does show up in some of the long term data including pre-AGW cult corrupted data. The likely reason, though, is one the AGW cultists won’t discuss because it blows their theories/scam apart.
What am I talking about? It’s fairly clear that solar activity, esp magnetic activity, drives a lot of our climate cycle. This has been talked about in depth on FR. Short version: quiet sun brings more cold, active sun brings more warm. A more magnetically active sun might create massive current fluxes in the Earth’s dynamo (spinning iron core), resulting in significant heating. This in turn could cause more volcanic activity.
AGW cultists won’t touch this, though, because the socialists who fund them haven’t figured out a way to tax the sun yet...
Extrapolation of data = cherry picking and manipulation.

I hafta admit ‘twas fun watching REAL scientist and meteorologist Joe Bastardi undress with the facts phony “science guy” (plays one on TV) Bill Nye last night on O’Reilly! Nye’s “don’t confuse me with the facts” bleetings were pathetic (IMHO)! More at link below:

Nye was left throwing the Denier term and pure emotion when his Hockey Stick graph failed to dent Bastardi’s arguments. To be quoting IPCC is a weak source to begin with.

Bastardi is one smart dude. I heard him the Friday night before Katrina hit predict the flooding from those levies/whatever they are called, told anyone in NO to get out now.
I also loved it cause BOR is a climate weenie.
It was great...JB made Nye look like the bumbling hack that he is.
