The thread has drifted into ‘Can Sarah win the Repub primaries thread’ I tend to doubt it, but there is a lot of time from now till then and I adopt a wait and see position for now.

You may spin it all you want but all America is going to see is a quitter...and Americans don't like quitters
Really? You are speaking for "America" now, are you? Were those Chinese or Mexicans or some other non-Americans lined up by the thousands in sub-freezing weather to pay for a signed copy of her book?
Politicians "quit" one job for another job all the time. Obama "quit" his job as Senator to become President. She will easily put it in context and say "Is it ok to 'quit' an elected job only when you are going to take another elected job? Or is it the right thing to do when it is in the best interests of your constituents?"

Name one Republican that can beat her in the primaries?
In order to be president you have to win that first!

“...She wil be ground into dust for quitting.”
Interesting that when it comes to Sarah Palin there are a lot of threats like ‘ground into dust’ or ‘ripped to shreds.’ I don’t think male candidates are issued such warnings for their opponents. I’m trying to remember any posts saying Huckabee would be ‘dragged through the mud’ (gravy maybe - ha!) or that Mitt Romney would be ‘destroyed’. It’s interesting imagery targeted at the first serious woman candidate in the GOP.
I don’t care for Romney or Huck but I wouldn’t wish for them to be ripped to shreds or torn to pieces. I get the feeling that for the anti-Palinites here and elsewhere their opposition to Sarah is personal and not political at all.

*Shrug.* You’re seeing a different reality than I am. Time will tell which of us is living in the real world.

So...if she decides she's accomplished all she wants to after 30 months in the White House are you comfortable with her resigning that office too?
I can just see Obama or whoever the dem nominee will be ask her something like that in a debate: "So, Ms. Palin, how do we know that you aren't going to quit the Presidency if elected half way through your first term?"
And I can see her smiling back and destroying her opponent with a retort like: "Well, I'll tell you what. I know you and the democrats don't want me to be President for 1 day, much less for 2 years, so in the interest of 'bi-partisanship', I'll make you democrats a deal. Pass my agenda in the first few months after I'm elected, including: tax cuts for all Americans, deep spending cuts, elimenating federal programs and entire departments & agencies, opening federal lands and waterways for use of natural resources including oil, gas, coal to help us become energy indepedent, win the war on terror, etc., etc,. etc.,. If you democrats help me implement this pro-America agenda all before I've been in office 2 years, then I'll leave Washington at the speed of light. On the other hand, if you democrats drag your feet and obstruct the work that Americans need and want done in DC so desperately, then I'll just have to stick around until the job gets finished. Deal or no deal?"

..... They’re simply responding in kind to your equally fact-free and logic-free arguments, sir. Your numerous posts here basically constitute a boring puerile character assassination exercise.
Maybe you’ll get a more receptive audience at DU.

If she wants it then she'll have to fight her way past people who want the presidency as bad as she does and who will rip her to shreds in order to get it. And that's just the primaries.
You mean like she did to become governor of Alaska?

I am not even going to respond to the bell ringer. And I am tired of holding my tongue on Sarah Palin after this ridiculous vanity.
I have made no secret about my support of Jim DeMint. He is a statesman. She is not even close. I am not a Mitter, a Paulite, or a RINO. We need a statesman in America now, not another good speaker with a jingle in her voice.
The hidden truth is that a bunch of frumpy middle aged women wish they were Sarah Palin and a bunch of dumpy middle aged men wish they could date her.
If she looked like Sen. Barbara Mikulski with the Sarah Palin rhetoric, no one would pay any attention.
To: WaterBoard
Sen. Evan Bayh quit too.
I don't think that's a strong debate point. Bayh didn't "quit". He just announced that he wouldn't run after his current term is up. He will serve out this term.

Excellent, I can picture her saying that.
To: factmart
Oh my God. How many times are you going to say that? I’ve already posted my thoughts on the primaries: To sum up, we’re in big trouble if this is all we’ve got. If forced to choose among the usual suspects, I myself would probably vote for Mitt. Not my dream candidate, but at least sane and competent.
To: carmody
Oh please, don’t throw the woman card at me. These are figures of speech and you assume wrongly that I am the one who wants her ‘ground in the dust’. It is the media that will continue to do this day in and day out.
The electorate will only respond in kind by believing everything thrown at her.
To: wtc911
I don’t think her “quitting” for reasons that are quite ethical will be the downfall. Her potential downfall is having to have her hand held by John McCain, to whom she is politically bound, despite his campaign’s (and his unbelievably asinine RINO daughter’s) efforts to distance themselves from her conservatism. That and a hungry media who wants obama (he’s soooo intelligent-not!) and George Soros all the time. Or hitlery and billery instead, if he don’t work out— but very important that this occur after healthcare destruction and rewriting the entire US tax code is in place with reconciliation. That is the real enemy, right now. Palin, like Reagan, threatens this grand plan. We get attacked again, and we will with these idiots in control, and all bets are off.
