Tips to prevent vehicle burglary and theft

This is a companion article to the one on Free VIN etching. The focus here is on things you can do to prevent your vehicle from being stolen. This tips are provided courtesy of the The Automobile Club of Southern California.

Here are the Auto Club's top tips to prevent vehicle burglary and theft.

1. Always lock your vehicle with the windows closed.

2. Never leave valuables inside the car, especially not in clear view, including small electronics, wallets, check books, credit cards, personal paperwork or any personal identification.

3. Bring your electronics and personal items into your home or office with you whenever possible.

4. Use anti-theft or automatic tracking devices.

5. If your vehicle wasn't equipped with an alarm or hidden tracking device when purchased, have one installed.

6. Never leave your keys in your vehicle, even at a gas station ...

I leave my German Sheperd in the car while shopping.Nobody has tried to steal the truck or contents so far.

I agree....that’s a common sense list. If you can’t remember to do any of these things you deserve to have your car stolen!

Like I mentioned to Farmer Dean, that too will get you jail time....last summer some lady did that and it became apparent the dog was getting scalded feet. El Busto!

Reminds me of a comedy skit I saw once during the "Baby on Board" sticker craze.

A crowd of onlookers surrounding a very panicked young guy, a car with several smashed windows, and a mother approaching with baby stoller.

I always keep the windows down,or if it’s too hot-I leave the dog at home.

Back when my Toyota Supra was new i would pull the fuel injector fuse out from under the hood when i would park it in iffy places.
