My readers in other states will have gathered from remarks made here, as well as from pieces in the national news, that the Illinois Republican Party is not very... shall we say... robust.
Here's another symptom: The intimidating tone of state Rep. Angelo "Skip" Saviano on Dec. 15 betrayed his frustration with communities that, by the scores, say they want no part of legalized video gambling. The setting was a meeting of an Illinois legislative committee and Saviano had a captive listener, Michael Fries, general counsel to the Illinois Gaming Board.
Saviano: "Some of the stuff you read in the newspapers and in the editorials, we feel that certain Gaming Board members or their designees are talking to them, giving them information, to stall this (rollout of video gambling). And we have an immense amount of pressure on us to get this capital bill up and running. So if you could relay a message. ... Could they just keep their mouths shut and get the job done? Cuz we need, we need this capital bill. We need it for our schools, we need it for everybody else. And for them to keep fueling the fire with the newspapers trying to get communities out of this is, is a crime."
Fries didn't cower: "I personally am not aware of any board member that is, that is doing that."
"Well you never would," Saviano retorted. "But they're there."

Skip Saviano is a Democrat with an R next to his name. Not a sqeak out of the leaership of the Illinois Republican Party!
They’ve been very much the same way in Michigan but they do seem to be getting the message for the most part.
Hope your doing well!! Good to hear from you.
Here is the article from the Chicago Tribune charging this State Central Committee member with EXTORTION

This fraud has been around for a long time if it is true.
Illinois Republican Corruption PING
We’re doing well in Michigan as far as election outlooks go. The democrats don’t have a strong candidate in the governor’s race and we’ve got a couple. In My district Tim Walberg is leading early polling over Mark Schauer by around 10 points.
Alas, many Republican leaders are more interested in getting crumbs from Democrats than in fighting voter fraud. We never had a Reagan revolution in Illinois.
Here is proof

The Illinois November election involved serious voting administration problems, many of which had occurred previously in the March primary
Overall, Cook County officials received approximately 1,500 complaints about the countys voting machines. Vote does not compute: County logs 1,500 gripes on machines, Chicago Sun-Times, December 11, 2006. Apart from the problems described above, officials also received reports of machines altering voters ballot choices. This phenomenon led to allegations that some machines had been rigged.
There is a huge Hispanic population in Illinois. It has tipped the state far to the left in statewide races.
They don’t want Crumbs from Democrats They ARE DEMOCRATS!

Just wanted to provide you some links with background on Saviano. You’ve probably already seen or knew about, but just in case.
Saviano has been a lousy excuse for a GOP party official (SCC member), and public official (State Rep.) for as long as anyone can remember.

Has photo of Saviano campaigning in partnership with liberal Democrat State Senator Don Harmon. They are close friends and even share a legislative office in the district. A friend of mine ran against Don Harmon in 2006 and witnessed many times where Saviano would not only help the Republican - he actively campaigned for Democrat Harmon. My friend’s campaign took this photo at a parade. It’s beyond outrageous that any Republican - especially a member of the SCC - would campaign for a liberal Dem. And worse when it’s at the expense of a good Republican challenger. SAVIANO SHOULD BE REJECTED JUST ON THE BASIS OF THIS PROOF ALONE (of course what should happen and what some people are willing to do, are two very different things in this party).

Back in early 2007, the SCC - which of course included Saviano - tried to tell some good Republicans they couldn’t use the word “Republican.”

Saviano was one of the GOP state reps to vote for more gambling - shortly after a new state party platform was adopted condemning further expansion.

- Saviano was a part of this ridiculous plan last year to sue Republicans over SB600.
!
I think the Illinois tea party activists could put their energy to really good use by taking over the Illinois state Republican party apparatus. It’s really not that difficult. Often times, there’s hardly anyone who challenges for local, precinct, and countywide GOP leadership posts. If the tea party folks can get some principled conservatives in the GOP official party apparatus, then we can begin to start running principled campaigns and putting up better candidates.
From a Distance, the Hultgren, Walsh, & Dold HOUSE PRIMARY wins look like they are worthy of celebration.
How did Illinois get like that!
The GOP is in Illinois?
Many Illnois combiners are Democrats with (R)s. That’s the next step after RINO.
IL ping
I voted in this last primary on my way to work. I tripled check my ballot after I was done to make sure I completed the whole thing.
When I fed it into the machine it said I left some votes out and if I wanted to continue. Since I had to get to work I didn’t have time to mess with it and pushed except.
Its bugged me ever since.
Hultgren over Hastert Jr. was huge.
Dold was also huge. He may not be very good himself but he’s surely better than Coulson who many IL freepers say is more liberal than Kirk.
