Here is an update for those of you in the Tennessee Valley. Here is the latest high-resolution model and what it is showing for the Valley. Notice the band of potential heavy snow that pushes across from west to east. This would be due to convective nature of the system. New models start to roll in around 9 PM so I will try to post another updated thought late this evening.
I am prepared. Have to take Mom to Knoxville tomorrow morning to the doctor, then one last trip to the grocery store and I am ready to ride this out.
Staying in town with Mom. It is not supposed to hit here till later in the day, and Saturday is supposed to be the really bad day.
I hope you all are prepared. Be safe. Check in with FR tomorrow/Saturday and let us know how you are.
Nellie, Grammy, I know I owe you mail. You too CrappieLuck. I haven’t forgotten you all, just been really busy.
Thanks Dale for this thread. I’ll be checking it often from here (above I-40 on the Tennessee/Kentucky border).
Hello GA and FRiends! Good to hear from you. I was just talking about what the weather may be here tomorrow! Last report said about 7 inches in our area tomorrow afternoon/evening! I will run errands in the morning. Don’t need many groceries, mainly coffee...can’t do without that one! Do any of you have more news about weather around Bristol, Kingsport, etc.?
Take care in your travels tomorrow! Been fishing??? LOL!
Don't forget bread and milk!!!
Video wouldn’t play so checked weather map. Looks like my kids (in the Chattanooga area) will get rain and snow mix. Typical Chattanooga. I always check your posts. Good information. My friends in Blaine, outside Knoxville are going to get some weather though :-)
Nana, it looks like you folks down around Choochoo town will be getting snow with this one also, and perhaps icing conditions. Get ready, m'Lady!
Haven’t been fishing at all. Mom is sick again, her cancer is back and she will start chemo again.
Pray for us.
I have our kerosenr heater tuned up with a supply of fuel laid in. The last snow, I went to Walmart to buy propane cylinder for the camp stove and they were cleaned out.
I had a thought yesterday that I can run an extension cord from my batteries in the van inside and power the cable modem and wireless router so I can have free republic when the power goes off.
we have TVA power from Johnson City Power Board. The last time we had a bad winter storm, the power outage was general throughout my area. They had a disaster plan for outage service but unfortunately could not find it in the dark.
A good link for detailed weather forecast information in this area, updated all the time (given by FReeper "T-Bird45")...

[... When it says there is no briefing, it means that they are preparing another one right at that time and it will be out shortly. They keep updating it all the time. ]
I’m waiting for a deluge of grandchildren...
The schools here are closing at 12 Noon...
My son is picking up 4 of them and bringing them here..
There was no frost this morning and no sign of snow ...
:)
Over here nearer to mid-Tenn it is coming down pretty good. I fully expect at least 6-7in or so. The Warning runs for the next 24hrs. People need to be already prepared. The NWS missed the cold push and surface track just enough to fool people into thinking 2in.
Prayers and tightlines hun.
This is off topic, but I just read the book “F5” which described in depth the tornado outbreak from April 3, 1974 focusing on the Limestone/Athens area.
The kids just told me its snowing...
about 2 tiny flakes ...
LOL
LOL, They will see it soon enough. I already have an inch or so.
WOW
Push all of yesterdays forcasts 75-100mi S. Clarksville and Gallatin are dry.
Well its snowing pretty steady now
and sticking...
Aint global warming grand ???
:)
I have full fuels in the moho which has a 4000 Onana generator. If it comes to it, I can use the generator to run the microwave and the little furnace would heat for a couple of days with periodic generator use. I can also plug the furnace in the basement into the generator in the Moho, if it comes to it. But I suspect even power outage can be dealt with using the gas logliter fireplace ... I can even cook in the fireplace if needs be, since I have the gaslogs (ceramics) and can rearrange them to make a camp fire cooking platform.
