Apparently it has never occurred to our political pollsters that Barack Hussein Obama is the Bradley Effect personified. While our floundering POTUS continues to garner approval numbers hovering in the 50% range, his policies are judged much more harshly by polled Americans. The Real Clear Politics average, for instance, reports B.O.'s job approval average at 49.4%. His hand-maidens in Congress however, receive only 24.5 % approval and of those asked about the direction in which our country is going, only 35.9 % believe we are headed down the right path. Just exactly who do they think is holding the steering wheel?

When the pollster calls, the respondant says “Of COURSE I like Obama, I’m no racist or bigot!” But in the privacy and anonymity of the voting booth — they practically break off the handle voting against him. (NJ, VA, MASS... 2010)

The misleading trope of "Obama's popularity" is getting old. In the super-charged atmosphere of political correctness foisted upon us by the Kennedy/Cronkite media and their allies in academia, the polling dissonance cited above suggests that most folks just don't feel comfortable reporting their dislike for the president.
I don’t feel uncomfortable about hating of Obama. I hate his stinking guts and I could care less what color his skin is. I could care less if it was whiter than mine or it were pink with blue polka-dots. I hate him.
I vehemently disagree with Obama on nearly every policy issue, and find his tactics underhanded, his espoused positions intellectually dishonest or vacuous. Still I understand appeal. He conveys a warm, likable persona and exhibits a kind of vacuous glibness that many, especially women, might find personally attractive. People tend to say they “approve” of people they like.
That’s true, but I don’t think his persona is warm and likable at all. I find him cold and creepy, narcisistic and very hectoring in his way of addressing the people (whom he obviously regards as his inferiors).
But as you say, that’s a matter of opinion, and obviously, some people do seem to like him personally and you are right, they probably therefore say they approve.
I will probably get flamed for this one, but I am a woman so I have a slightly smaller chance of being banned from the universe. Men were against women being given the opportunity to vote because they were afraid women would not vote on the issues only on the candidate’s appearance. Unfortunately men may not have been wrong in their thinking. Look at the number of women who voted for Slick Willie because he was CUTE. The man wasn’t cute, he just knew how to seduce. And women please realize I don’t mean all women or most women but a whole lot of women who should have known better.
Anne Coulter has expressed the same sentiment. My father used to say, “The women got the vote and the nation got Harding.”
People are not going to report to pollsters what they actually think of Obama because they don’t want to be called “racists”. Anyone who doesn’t approve is called a racists.
