So often, evil is simple to identify. You know the historically bad people. But, then again, once in a while Pat Robertson opens his pie hole and reminds us that a different kind of evil sometimes creeps along like that dirty little wolf in ministers clothing.
If you missed it, this pillar of Christianity decided that, while the people of Haiti were suffering from a devastating earthquake, many of whom, at that very moment were buried beneath the rubble clinging to life, he should let everyone know that the disaster was actually their fault, no pun intended. The convoluted logic he used to arrive at this fatuous conclusion has something to do with a deal Haiti made with the Devil, or so he claims, to release them from French rule two centuries ago, but his reasoning really isnt the issue.
This unfeeling, uncaring, apostate may be a Christian, but he isnt Christian. Those who have a heart, mind, soul and whatever else is missing from this guy must loudly excoriate him instead of ignoring him like a crazy uncle. Whenever he opens his mouth, we all get painted with the same brush.

If people really listened to what Pat said, he didn’t once say this was a judgment from God. He merely went into their history and then talked about Operation Blessing and offered prayers for the victims of this horrible tragedy.
Sometimes people hear what they want to hear in order to bash someone they hate. Sarah Palin comes to mind. People should go back and carefully listen to what Pat said before making judgments. I did, and I’m glad that I did because I clearly understood what he was saying.
It behooves each of us to not take our talking points from any media without searching out the truth for ourselves. Most are quick to make comments without having truth on their side.
Granted Pat might should have held off a little (timing wise)but to deny that the land does at times vomit out it’s inhabitants (Leviticus)due to wickedness is to deny what God himself said in the scripture. I don’t know the details of Haiti’s pact with the devil but they are known to practice voo-doo. I will now Google the history....
IMHO, if someone is newly registered at FR, and decides to post their own blog, they at least should have the guts to respond and either defend their views or discuss it.
Post and run isn’t cool.
I guess i didn’t pour the sarcasm on thick enough for some people. The fact that I cited “the President’s spokesman” as though that should settle everything once and for all should have been a clue. Geeez. I do not use the sarcasm tag, I think that it insults people’s intelligence. I know sarcasm when I see it.
Its been pointed out several times that Pat didn’t say “God did it,” but some of the extremist Catholics among us refuse to pass an opportunity to bash a Pentecostal.
Pat does say way too much lots of times though. The media know that he’s always good for a strong “red meat” comment that they can bandy about to discredit Christians.
Drive by posters, we see them all the time.
Many are missing your obvious sarcasm; there must be something in the FR water today....
I guess that I hadn’t payed enough attention. I just think it’s especially poor manners to post one’s own blog and run.
I’ve taken my hits on articles I’ve posted or on posts that I’ve made to others. oh well..........
In 2003, Voodoo was declared the official religion of Haiti. If we don’t believe G-d can allow natural disasters to let judgement pass on unrepentent people then we don’t believe in Noah’s Ark either.. Whether “the deal with the Devil” happened yesterday or 200 years ago it is all in G-d’s timing...he created the place and he can do what he wants.
There is a verse in the Bible that says he “lets the sun rise for the evil and good and lets the rain fall on the just and unjust”
Sorry, but there are those who post just what you have and have meant every word of it. How would someone be able to know you were not one of these???? A little understanding and kindness for those who are not clairvoyant might go a long way.... Good grief!!
Obvious only to those who know the poster.... Sorry, but there are those here who would say EXACTLY what he said - and mean every word. ‘Nuff said.
Like Viking83? :o)
Don’t know the poster in question. Am I supposed to?
There is a Missionary in Haiti who pointed out on FOX that immediately after the disaster hit, the people were out in the streets praying and singing their hearts out to our savior. They have lived there for over 30 years and say the Haitians are loving and spiritual Christians, perhaps more so that the fair weather Christians here in the USA.
You people are quick to condemn these people for something you know nothing about. Like Robertson, who cannot look up at his audience while he lays out this outlandish self righteous condemnation, then claims to pray for their salvation.
The days of the Old Testament and the Wrath of God died on the cross at Calgary. Disasters happen by their own accord. They are not an instrument of punishment or else the USA would have been wiped form the Earth the day Rowe v Wade was made into law and America declared God is dead.
Pat Robertson:
I have two words for you.
Liberian Gold.

I would be careful portraying ANY nation in its entirety as being Christians - since that implies a knowledge of Christ and a personal relationship with Him. I am delighted to know that there are those Haitians who are praying and responding in this way, but I would bet not all are. I also would not want to paint the Christians in the USA with a broad brush and call them “fair weather” when many are no such thing.
Also - I think you mean “Calvary”? Yes, God’s wrath died there - for those who know Him. That last part is key. I would not presume to know what He might or might not do or allow to happen to a nation. Our ways are not His. His wrath is still alive and active for those who have refused His gift of salvation - as they will find out if they die in their sins without His grace.
You are probably confusing him with the Reverend Wright.
