Once again, natural disaster has brought its wrath to Planet Earth; this time it is Haiti that must bear the brunt of natures fury. An earthquake registering 7.0+ on the Richter scale has devastated the tiny Caribbean country. Once again, Americas heart opens to the victims. We will respond as we always do: with compassion and utter disregard for politics.
We can discuss Haitis political upheaval, the environmental nightmare created by a clueless officials another time. These are people who are suffering now. Children, babies. Parents, the elderly. Hospitals and clinics where they might seek medical treatment have vanished into the debris.

Earthquake Ping.
Not exactly a thread focused on the science of earthquakes, but I did not see any other threads about the recent quakes.
I am getting to complacent to start threads at this time.
So I suppose we could say this is a sorta a ping. : )
We were going on a mission trip to Haiti in February. I just found out it is almost certain we will be unable to go.

One would think a re tooled mission trip would be very helpful at that time. It seems American expertise could be very valuable going forward.
