"60 Minutes" Hit Job On Palin Was Truly A Joke

As cynical as I have become about the news media, even I never thought I would see the day where "60 Minutes" provided far more comedy than "Saturday Night Live," but Sunday’s edition of the formerly respected news magazine gave the educated viewer infinitely more laughs than SNL delivered (although Charles Barkley’s pathetic performance may have still somehow been even worse than that of Anderson Cooper).

Specifically I am referring to the segment that was allegedly devoted to the new book “Game Change” about the 2008 Presidential election. Quite simply, (partly because it dealt with subjects about which I have devoted much of the last two years of my life and fortune) this was the worst piece of “journalism” I have ever witnessed on 60 Minutes.

Here are just some of the many outrages in the story that forced those who care about the truth to choose between laughter and tears.

The segment on the book was just under thirteen minutes long. About eleven of those were spent discussing the losing side’s Vice Presidential candidate. About seven minutes were used interviewing the strategist for the losing the campaign and allowing him to take unsubstantiated pot shots at the aforementioned VP candidate. Less than two minutes was used on the current Secretary of State’s bid to be the actual President. Virtually zero seconds were given to the campaign of the current President. Literally zero seconds were devoted to brand new and startling revelations in “Game Change” regarding scandals involving John and Elizabeth Edwards and Harry Reid.

I haven’t watched 60 minutes in years, but I was a bit surprised to hear they did a story on Palin at all.

If I wanted to watch 60 minutes of democratic campaign commercials, I'd simply turn on CNN or MSNBC anytime. Of course that requires the patented "CBKATY chicken wire screen protector" we use to deflect beer bottles from the flatscreen....

I Just finished reading the chapter on the election. Sarah Palin gave such a detailed chronology, that listening to him lie was disgusting.

IMO, he single handedly, lost that election.

It simply indicates just how scared the Dems and the MSM are of Gov. Palin and her chances in 2012.

I find it laughable that they are already running against her.

It was a hit job, but I was surprised that Schmidt admitted that Palin drew a lot of votes to the ticket.

Schmidt admitted that Palin drew a lot of votes to the ticket.................................. Yes and he admitted that without her it would have been a catastrophic loss for Mc Cain. Duhh.

I thought it was good. The last statement was the McCain would have lost more votes without her. She did say O’Biden during the debate. She will not make that mistake again so she learned something.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — California’s high speed rail commission, dominated by Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger’s appointees, is set to award a $9 million contract to a company led by the governor’s top political adviser and his former campaign manager.

The three commission staff members charged with recommending a public relations firm have advised the board to give the contract to Mercury Public Affairs at its Thursday meeting. Schwarzenegger strategist Adam Mendelsohn is a partner at Mercury, as is Steve Schmidt, who managed the governor’s 2006 re-election effort.

Two members of the staff panel are former Mendelsohn colleagues.

Ethics watchdogs raised questions about the appearance of favoritism.

“You can’t help but raise your eyebrows,” said Kathay Feng, executive director of California Common Cause. “We are seeing a revolving door of legislators and former state officials and state employees going from public service to private PR firms ... and pulling on all the personal relationships that they’ve developed to build up their business.”

Harry Reid’s “negro moment” led the ABC Evening News, but wasn’t even mentioned on 60 Minutes. Pathetic example of modern ‘journalism’.
