Garden-gate? On the Iron Chef reality show Sunday night, FLOTUS Michelle Obama, in a cameo appearance, bragged about the sweet potatoes she had grown in her White House miracle garden. Many of you have emailed in, questioning the veracity of her claim. Inquiring minds want to know...check out the First Lady's on-line "planting plan"--no sweet potatoes listed! If, indeed, sweet potatoes were never grown in the garden, how did FLOTUS and the competing chefs pull sweet potatoes out of the ground at the White House? Was Desiree Rogers anywhere in vicinity in couture gardening togs??

I almost didn’t watch this show because of thunder thighs but did. The White House Chef is so outclassed by the talent on display. There is no way her and Flay won that competition. I really like Flay too.
Two clues...
1. They didn't come out of the ground
2. Latex was involved

Some of the shows on Food Netowork are downright silly. Why Food Network would get involved with anything in the White House or other areas is beyond me. They should stick to what they do best and that is cooking (well not all of them) and leave politics alone. Once I begin seeing a host/hostess get all political on the show...I’m outta there. Remote, click, off!
1) Michelle has never been back to the garden since the photo-op.
2) She has no clue what items were planted there.
3) I don’t think there is anything growing there unless they built a heated greenhouse for it.

What happened to the fact the soil was poisoned and nothing should be eaten from her garden?

it is just vaguely possible that sweet potatoes may have grown there if someone had used the garden to grow them in the past. Sweet potatoes come back year after year even after you make extra efforts to make sure you dig up all the roots. They would probably be classified an invasive plant if they were not so tasty.
The scary thing is they believe their own lies.
The garden soil was reported as poisoned with heavy metals. These two-bit hucksters did not eat a thing grown from that patch of land.
That is what I want to know. Did she go on to feed her kids these imaginary sweet potatoes after they found that the gound was contaminated or what?
I think she set up the farmers market at millions to taxpayers to buy her non poisoned fresh produce.
Sirens blaring and all. She got her $20.00 a pound arugula.
Was it a garden in the past?
But it would be just like her to take credit for growing something that just came back from a previous garden.
It's ordinary and a waste of everyones time and money.
A lesson for children?? You need the Prez's wife to tell you to eat your veggies??

White House House kitchen staff along with reps from Miriam’s Kitchen, providers of healthy, homemade meals for the DC area homeless, were also on hand to help. According to the First Lady, 740 pounds of food have already been harvested from the garden, for the low cost of $170. The garden’s harvest will be donated to Miriam’s Kitchen.
“For fall, in addition to the sweet potatoes, the children gathered wheel barrels full of carrots, lettuce and enormous fennel plants, one of which required the full weight of the first lady and her team members to extract from the ground. “You’re going to eat your vegetables, right, said the wicked witch?”
You didn’t know that the Obama’s created charity, volunteerism and gardens?
Rahm/Axelrod didn’t send the memo?
It’s all about carbons. Grow your own food because soon we will ban anything coming in further than 30 miles. And we plan on California not growing anything ever again.
When Michelle and the schoolkids dug up the garden in a photo-op session, there were pictures of her digging up sweet potatoes.

TRUTH is not a tool that is ever used by the Obama family.
The Obama’s record for deception is “unprecedented”.
Even at gardening, Obama is America’s First Failed Black Pres-dent.....
Besides, weren’t we told a few weeks after the big plantation re-enactment on the White House lawn that the soil was loaded with lead, and the vegetables were going to be inedible?
I agree, but before they gave the verdict, I said to myself there’s no way they would have on Moosechelle and the WH chef and let her lose. The show would never have aired.
