For the video-impaired: it's the trailer for the upcoming live-action Space Battleship Yamato movie. Space Battleship Yamato in its animated form is better known in the U.S. as Star Blazers.

Loved SB and remember having to painstakingly adjust roof aerial to get enough signal to watch at ungodly early hour.

It was an EXTREMELY popular anime that ran for years in Japan. In the US, it had the name, “Starblazers”.
You would not BELIEVE what a loyal following it has in Japan.
People who are aged from like 35-50 will follow it, primarily men.
THIS IS A BIG DEAL..! I CANNOT WAIT.
When I was a boy, I would run around and almost WET MYSELF when it came on TV —all my buddies were into it.
When I saw the preview, I almost cried..!

Wow...am I dreaming?
While I disagree with Michael Pinto’s political views, he runs a good site and I appreciate him putting this on YouTube!

Uh no...much better. It was called Star Blazers here in the US. Epic cartoon series from the 80s.

I’m a big fan of Transformers, partly because it’s my generation.
I’m also a huge fan of GI Joe, but I refuse to watch the new movie. Also a huge fan of Dragonball Z, but I haven’t seen that new movie either.

Star Blazers was like Japanese Galactica. After years of losing a space war earth sends its last space ship filled with the most talented young people on the planet on a desperate mission to retrieve a technology that would remove the radiation that is poisoning the planet.
