Of all the campaign promises that President Barack Obama made, the only one that I hope he does not break is the one to try to get a playoff system in Division I college football and scrap the anti-trust and discriminatory BCS system. Given how many of his other promises that he has already broken, I am not holding out much hope that Obama will keep this one. However, hopefully Senator Orrin Hatch and others will keep the pressure and the attention on this issue.
This is actually the ultimate affirmative action case, so it seems like an issue that Obama and his Democrat Party cohorts would be all over. The BCS system clearly is designed to favor certain conferences and even certain individual teams over all the others. Only six so-called BCS conferences receive an automatic bid to a BCS bowl game, whereas the other conferences have no automatic qualifier at all.

Mr. Binsrick, your life is shallow and vacant. You must seek happiness elsewhere! Take up birding or needlepoint. Relax and enjoy nature. These feelings of needing sports will pass. Surrender yourself to the force!
ROLL TIDE!!
Beat the Horns and the steer they rode in on.
Which of the clauses in Article I Section 8 delegates responsibility for college football bowl games to the Federal Government? Seems to me that they will first need to pass an amendment adding college football bowl games to the list of delegated Federal responsibilities.
It has to do with gambling revenue. If there is a way to determine a true champion, the bookies will dance in the streets.
I don't oppose a playoff system, but this article is mostly nonsense. The stronger teams in stronger conferences have a far more difficult path to the BCS because they play far stronger competition week-after-week. Some of the secondary conferences have only one or two decent teams that go through their schedule easily, having plenty of time to prepare for the one or two decent opponents they face each year.
Ain't gonna happen.
None that I know of, but if Bama loses the entire state of Alabama will stand up and demand a RECOUNT!!!
Care to bet a bottle of
on that?
I believe that college football was better before they pretended to have a national champion. Let the best teams play each other by being invited to bowl games, with the more prestigious bowls getting the better match-ups, and after the last bowl game we can argue for a year as to who was the best. Don’t even have the pretense of a “playoff” or championship game when there are dozens of competitive schools.
Texas Tech should be named the winner and the atheletic director given the Nobel prize. College is all about football. All those class thingies are a distraction.
Roll Tide!
God bless you all!!!! and HAPPY NEW YEAR to all of you!!!!

I'm gonna really hate playing against Florida coached by Leach! < embedded prediction >
I could see Leach winding up at Miami, once they finally can Shannon.
ALL college football coaches are Leeches.
Maybe not. We’ll see.
