A new Rasmussen poll has Senator Ben Nelson down 30 points in a theoretical race against current Republican Governor Heineman. Nelson's health care vote seems to be the reason. Sixty-four percent (64%) of Nebraska voters oppose the health care legislation Ben Nelson voted for, including fifty-three percent (53%) who are strongly opposed. Only 17% of Nebraska voters approve of the deal Senator Ben Nelson made to sell his vote for a special Medicaid deal. An April 2006 poll by Survey USA found him to be the Senator with the highest popularity rating, 73%, among his own constituents.

Misunderestimating the mood of working Americans who are dealing with the catastrophe that is *tax & spend*.
Nebraskans obviously have no affection for Medicaid - which is shorthand for giving freebies to illegals, layabouts and losers.
Hopefully Nelson will consider the polls when the revised bill comes back from the House/Senate conference committee.
If Nelson wants to get re-elected, he needs to vote against whatever version of the bill comes out of the conference committee. He can claim that whatever changes that the House insists on are deal breakers (rather than admit that he is flip-flopping to get re-elected).
But I’m not holding my breath.
He’ll retire. I’m sure buried in the so-called “Health Bill” are enough kickbacks and payoffs to ensure he is set for life.
OK so what difference will it make to Neslon? He probably figures with all the new federal entitlements, surely there’ll be room for an ex-Senator in the bureaucratic webery.
Revenge is a dish best served cold.
Nebraska voters should declare jihad on all Democrats in state races and for the US House. Perhaps when the party sees that Ben Nelson’s kool-aid drinking could make their part extinct in the state they would get Nelson to resign.
Last I knew, Heineman wasn’t in the race yet. Any changes on that?

I can’t wait for 2012. Oh...I forgot, it’s nearly 2010.
I can’t wait for 2010.
