Portrait of an American nightmare. All his points are well taken, especially about the unions, but Im wary of drawing too many broadly applicable lessons from Detroit for the simple reason that no place else outside of Ramadi, say looks like it. Other American cities have been dominated by the left for decades too, from Berkeley to D.C., and none have the Hiroshima-after-the-blast feel that Motown does. (Democrats currently outnumber Republicans on the New York City Council 46-3.) What Detroit reminds me of, in fact, is a photo set I once viewed online taken in and around Chernobyl by a girl touring the area on her motorcycle. Its a fascinating gallery, in case youve never seen it; follow the link, then compare it to the ghost town Crowders walking through here. Horrifying.
Here’s the video...

Detroit’s primary problem is that it has been under black hegemony for decades on end. That’s not racist; it’s racial. And that is as it should be. As Churchill said, “Occasionally it’s good to acknowledge the truth.”
rename it Obamaville.
The company I used to work for has a branch office in Detroit. They also have one in Chicago. Lemme tell ya, folks, Chicago ain’t got a darn thing on the Motor City when it comes to political corruption and red tape roadblocks. It’s one of the most hostile business environments imaginable.
Homeview bump.
Bump ...
East St. Louis looks just like that, as well as certain sections of St. Louis City and County. In my Grandparents day, East St. Louis was a bustling steel production center and one of the biggest cattle yards in the nation. It was almost all white as well. Now its nothing.
Detroit is all the forces of liberalism coming together to destroy Capitalism in the name of social and economic justice. America is becoming Detroit.
Wow! Sad to see Detroit in ruins like that.
Saw that. Awful thing to see of Detroit. Looking at some of the comments on the page, most people get it. One lib tries to blame Reagan for what happened to Detroit.
IIRC, the average house in Detroit costs $11K, yet no one is buying...go figure.
Coming soon to a street near you.
I was in Detroit in Sep. Detroit is a warning what is to come to the rest of the country.
Some are $1000.00...Back taxes haven’t been paid.
The is the neighborhood where a lot of Detroit's movers and shakes and city council members live.........
Oops, I forgot to add the /sarc tag.......LOL!
