Sarah's explanation of why she legitimized the birther conspiracy theorists feeds right into her victimhood storyline:
Voters have every right to ask candidates for information if they so choose. Ive pointed out that it was seemingly fair game during the 2008 election for many on the left to badger my doctor and lawyer for proof that Trig is in fact my child. Conspiracy-minded reporters and voters had a right to ask which they have repeatedly.Ah yes... Palin was a victim of a massive left wing conspiracy that forced her to courageously step down as Alaska's governor. So it's only fair (to her mind) that Obama be hounded by an equally loony right wing conspiracy -- the birthers. Well, you just can't argue with logic like that!
Rick Moran at Pajamas Media takes Palin to task and then some. Here's a sample:
I note that some Palin fans are trying to spin the fact that she never called on the president to produce his birth certificate or questioned his citizenship. They are missing the point. Sarah Palin has said that these questions are legitimate, that voters have a right to know, and that a lot of citizens are concerned about it.Moran continues:She didnt say what any rational person on the right or left believes: that questions about the presidents birth have been settled by the state of Hawaii, that only a very small group of citizens are even concerned about the issue, and that an equally small number of people were even aware of the ridiculous controversy over Trigs origins.
Those who are tempted to say that Sarah Palins attempt to legitimize the birther movement will destroy her campaign should forget it. It will never happen. She is immunized against such career-ending gaffes by her loyal followers who dont want to listen to anyone when they criticize, laugh, or beat their heads against a wall over the latest evidence that as presidential material Palin would make a good candidate for the mayor of Wasilla.
The problem is, unless the GOP and that includes Rush Limbaugh and the other cotton candy conservatives who wield a lot of influence stand up and denounce her in no uncertain terms, birtherism will have gone completely mainstream in the Republican Party. If that happens, you might want to forget about any significant gains at the polls for the GOP in 2010.
By her stupidity, she is now going to force every GOP candidate for the House and Senate to come out and declare whether they are birther nuts or not.Indeed. Read the whole story here.
The only reason I bother these days to post anything about Palin is merely to declare that I rue the day McCain ever picked her as his running mate (stupidest decision of his adult life) and pray that someday soon she will return to Alaska and disappear. Palin is the poison pill that threatens to sink the entire GOP and I refuse to take that pill and go down with her.
I'm not going to hold my nose and vote for Palin. I can not go to my grave with that vote on my conscience. It was bad enough holding my nose and voting for her to be one heartbeat away from the Presidency. If she is our nominee in 2012 or 2016 or 20xx, I will vote for a third party or none of the above. If she's all we got, then we deserve to lose. It's that simple.
Now some might call me hypocritical for supporting Palin while she was the nominee. True enough... but I'll leave it to Chuckles Johnson to offer up an explanation for anything I wrote in support of Palin last year:
Says Chuckles: "I was skeptical of her, but I was ready to defend her, because it was hyper-partisan time."
On that much, I'll agree with Chuckles -- and I agree with little Chuckles has to say these days. In hyper-partisan mode, I too said a lot of things to defend Palin. I swallowed hard and praised her just as I know it pained others to praise McCain during the campaign.
But once the election was over, I pulled few punches with Palin. Just as every RINO hating social conservative wasted no time in spouting their hatred for McCain once the election was over. I was always a McCain supporter (and wish he'd beat Bush in 2000), but never liked Palin for anything other than her ability to regurgitate sound bites (more like bait) to appeal to the base.
I always preferred Pawlenty and think McCain would have been far better served to lose with honor with Pawlenty at his side than to throw a Hail Mary with Palin and unknowingly launch the career of the all but certain destructor of the modern day GOP. In the end, the shadow of Sarah Palin may well drawf all the good McCain accomplished in the US Senate.
You already have in a very specific way. Wear that donkey proud okay?
Yeah, if you hate on McCain or Romney, it's cool. If you say one word against Palin, you must be a looney lib Obama lover.
If you held your nose and voted for McCain, then you must be a RINO lover. How will you look yourself in the mirror if you have to hold your nose and vote for Romney or some other candy assed RINO in 2012?
“Many of the Polin supporters do seem to be very like the Obama supporters, dont they?”
How so?
You overlook a very basic factor. Upon assuming the office was able to get passed a very strict ethics law to correct the corruption that existed. The flaw in the law is that those filing the charge is not held accountable while the person charged must hire private lawyer to defend as well as the state conducts the investigation. Under Federal law, all but one or two of these charges would not get past the door. Also, they finally began going after the staff who have no opportunity to pay for a lawyer. When they began resigning for financial reasons was the point she resigned. This flaw is being addressed by the state now.
Touche.
But I'll bet Mr. Robinson can make a far more articluate and reasoned statement in support of Palin than any of the quitter-bots have thus far.
And even if I don't agree with Mr. Robinson's reasons, I have to respect his opinion because this is his house and it's his rules. Though perhaps I'll end up triggering a no Palin bashing zone rule... Romney bashing is in full effect until 2012.
I personally haven’t hated on any candidate on our side other than a line here or there where I’m teasing Romney supporters who see ashamed of their very own choice. Whereas your article is something I would expect from MSNBC or Huffingtonpost, your soulmates. I have no problem voting for anyone who is opposite Obama on the ballot, I want him gone. Sarah is such an obvious choice to be that person.
That “fringe” label is such an Alinsky LIE! I makes me boil.
51% of Republicans do NOT believe that Obama was born in the U.S. Add that to the number who say they have doubts, or that it hasn't been proven, and that is MILLIONS UPON MILLIONS of people!!!!
Please read the following:
Those who have concerns about Obamas eligibility are not a mere fringe. Please take note of the following poll. There is NO WAY Palin can tip toe around this stinking carcass in the living room. There are too many Republicans ( 51% at minimum) who are yelling, screaming, and frantically pointing at the carcass!
Personally, I thought Palin handled the questions brilliantly.
ngus Reid Global Monitor) - Three-in-ten Americans think their current head of state was not born in the United States, according to a poll by Angus Reid Strategies. 70 per cent of respondents believe Barack Obama was born in the U.S., while 30 per cent do not.
While only 13 per cent of Democratic Party supporters believe Obama was not born in the U.S., the proportion rises to 25 per cent among Independents and 51 per cent among Republican Party backers.

So far as I know, Palin gave the answer a lot of us who aren't "birthers" would give: Obama just didn't provide enough information to disprove these rumors and he should do so if he wants them to go away.
If I was asked I might say the same thing.
My guess is you will need a pair of these to read this site.
Quick, serious question for Ikeonic:
If chickens had lips, would they be able to whistle?
Don’t you just LOVE hypothetical questions? The likelihood of either mine or your hypothetical coming to pass, by the way, is about on a par...
What’s yer point? You hate Sarah. Blah, blah, blah.
So, this required a thread?
Same sh*t, different day.
What was the name of his doctor?
Simple. QED!
For the sake of argument (and because you seem nice), I'll agree with your argument. But that won't stop the Dems from hitting her over the head with her decision to resign throughout the campaign. You know the GOP would do it to any Democrat who resigned the way Palin did. No matter how much she tries to explain it, it won't play well in a campaign. Spinning the facts can only do so much to fix this problem.
I see, you can’t fight your battles, nor defend your positions, you have to run to the big guy.
Hope Gov. Polin has better supporters than you.
I would vote for any Republican nominee as long as he/she are conservative and a Governor. I know it's hard for you to comprehend, but us Palin worshipers aren't going to self-destruct if she's not the nominee.
Seriously, Id like to know. It seems like many of you are so in love with Palin (and you know Im the complete opposite) that it would be very, very difficult for any of you to vote for another RINO like McCain.
Again, I reject the premise of the assertion that Palin supporters are "in love" with or are "worshiping" her. We see someone who is a solid conservative Christian Republican taking the fight to the socialists, hence our enthusiastic support. If Pawlenty had a solid conservative record and did the same thing, Hell we'd support him too.
It seems like your attitude is Sarah or no one else.
Partly true because she has all the intangibles of a conservative and theoretically, is the only Republican who can unite the base and attract independents. Other than maybe Sen DeMint or Congresswoman Bachmann, I don't see anyone else out who has a greater percentage of winning than Sarah.
If not, Id like to hear why not. But Sarah or else, seems like a recipe for disaster if she doesnt get the nomination as many of you seem to think is pre-destined. What if youre wrong and she doesnt get the nomination? What if Romney does? What then?
I simply will not vote for Romney or any Republican who promises more of the same slow statist-socialist agenda that was under Bush.
Take a 20 dollar bill out of your pocket, if you have one.
Old Hickory (who is that?) was elected to the Senate in I think 1830.
HE HATED THE JOB, AND IN TWO YEARS HE ‘QUIT’.............
FOUR YEARS LATER HE RAN FOR PRESIDENT AND WON.........
SO MUCH FOR ‘QUITTERS’............SARAH MADE PROMISES TO THE ALASKAN PEOPLE, AND SHE KEPT EVERY ONE, AND THEN SHE RESIGNED.........
Name one Obama has kept..........
By the way, I was referring to the behavior of many of her supporters... you prove my point.
“But I’ll bet Mr. Robinson can make a far more articluate and reasoned statement in support of Palin than any of the quitter-bots have thus far.”

The posters on this thread have been plenty articulate in providing fact-based support of Governor Palin. Jim Robinson would certainly provide similar reasoned substance.
Your “quitter-bot” phraseology is sophomoric and devoid of a factual basis. Additionally, by definition, conservatives are firmly independent-minded and quite averse to any robotic behavior on ANY issue.
You are transparent and you are losing. Badly.
You know it and I know it.
Go ahead and yawn - but she was picked because of her pro-energy stand and the fact that she shared that same “maverick” independent political streak that McCain has. Granted, Sarah’s definition of a “maverick” is the polar opposite of McCain’s, but they shared the trait nevertheless and were political soul mates.
