When the global warming canard migrated from niche research into trillions of dollars of policy changes effecting every human being on the planet, the PhD level of quality control should have been ejected immediately. With the fate of humanity at risk, it is not too much to ask for professional quality code, analysis, and a true peer review process.

As you noted, engineers are trained to Get Things Right. When I started at Virginia Tech, the first thing taught in the first engineering class was that lives will ride on your work. Error is fatal.
Truer words were never written. On top of that, we engineers are trained how to think, and to be ethical - the latter apparently not true of the CRU.

That is one weighty article but points out the public’s disadvantage when scams are perpetrated by the ‘educated elite’.

The absurdity of depending on untestable, shoddily written computer models to prove anything is staggering.
Especially given the vast sums of money involved.
Climatology has proven to be as much a true science as astrology.
I jokingly referred to these climate models as government-funded game simulations.
But honestly, video games have a lot more sophistication, refinement and testing to them than these climate models do.
I like the part of scientists not documenting their program code.
Part of my work is code for programmable logic controllers used in industrial applications and safety shutdown systems. My interpretation of some paragraphs of 29USC1911 is that I am required BY LAW to document my programs.
It sounds like the global warming establishment needs adult supervision.
I’ve spent a good part of my life reverse engineering operational software, simulations and test software. From the little bit I’ve seen from them, it seems like these guys and their code aren’t worth a pitcher of warm piss.
What academics are not familar with are written requirements and formal verificatin and validation. I’ve worked with at least two Ph.D. astronomers and lots of other Ph.D.s and some of them are excellent coders, and documenters. The astronomers seem to be better than other disciplines because their work is subject to validation. If the transit of Venus does not occur when expected, everyone knows about it. They also understand the idea of error bounds and the law of propagation of errors.
Some of the really and truly worst coders and engineers are Ph.D.s as well. There is that “I’ve got a Ph.D. and who are you to question me?” attitude. Mathematicians who can’t get anything done, assorted dilettants and poseurs.
The climate models can’t account for the millions of known variables let alone the millions of unknown variables.

Well and why would you even trust someone who only looks at half the data (that which fits within his/her worldview).
I agree with most of what you said. I’m a PhD enginer and my area of expertise is an areas of scientific computing called relable computations. Trust me, few folks in the scientific community know or understand (or coveniently forget) the limitations of digital computations, or advanced applied mathematics in general. I refer to the type of mathematical models typically employed for dynamics as 5th order abstractions from the real. Assumption simplifications, idealized structures, data smearing, error progation and round error build-up render systems of highly-coupled chaotics systems useless.
Could it be something as simple as “outcome-based” schools creating outcome-based thinkers?
