Red Cross women accused of Racism for showing Patriotism

My mother works at the Red Cross, and she liked the Don't Tread On Me stickers I made. She decided to take a couple of them to work and show them to a couple of her co-workers. When she did, one of the African Americans at her job, stood up and started shouting and calling her a racist. He yelled "We love Obama and you are racist!" My mother has never had a racist bone in her body, she is a good women who works hard and just believes our Country is going down the wrong path, and is proud of her son for standing up against it.

The day after this incident, HR came in and asked her to show them the sticker. They said "You don't think this is racist?" She came over to my house yesterday in tears and told me she had to take the sticker off her car, and couldn't take any of them to her job. I was outraged and wanted her to put the stickers all over her car and park next to this guy tomorrow. She is worried she will lose her job. Since she is a single women and doesn't make much money, she fears standing up for her Freedom of Speech. What has this Country come to?

Unbelievable. How anyone can consider that the Gadsden flag is racist, is beyond my ability to comprehend.

The US is obviously engaged in another Cold War, except this time, it's between its own citizens on the left, and the right.

You can contact a moderator, and ask them to edit the post. Try addressing your post to Lead Moderator, Admin Moderator, or Sidebar Moderator.

There aren't too many rules and those are pretty common sense considerations. Setting aside your specific case the notion of "blog pimping" is covered under "solicitation."

Don't let it get to you, MFP. Many Freepers are on a hair-trigger, and are extraordinarily vigilant, due to the fact that this place is under constant infiltration and psy-ops by the left.

As to your mom, there are subtle ways that she can fight back, like wearing a flag pin on her blouse, or putting an American flag bumper sticker on her car. She can take a patriotic book, like Mark Levin's "Liberty & Tyranny" to work, and keep it on her desk. Maybe even a pocket edition of the US Constitution. Tell her to find a cute red, white, and blue hair thingy to wear. She can get the message across to her co-workers without jeopardizing her job.

If the only way to take part in this forum is to give up on my Blog, then I can not participate. If we can come to some common ground, then I would be happy to participate. I feel MyFreePress is a good way for me and others in my generation to express ourselves. Also it keeps a record of our expression.

Also I was reading through other postings in the Blog section and it appears that “many’ of them are linked back to other blogs.

So long as you post in Bloggers and Personal you can post a link to your Blog anytime.

This issue was recently covered in a huge thread in Breaking News.

But hey, some folks, all they have to do is jump into something with nastiness when they could just scroll on by. But they are fine, fine folks who gift us with the benefit of their superiority, sniff, sniff, rather than move on.

Thank you for your contribution to FR. Hope to read more of your Blog posts and for a while get used to the holier than thou.

Ask them what part of BLOGGERS AND PERSONAL they don’t understand.

Hi Myfreepress,

I think it’s great you’ve joined us and certainly WONDERFUL that you decided to donate already! WOW!

That said, there are people here that come just to “pimp their blog” which is probably why people have jumped on you somewhat.

I’d just like to help smooth the way for you a little so I’m making the suggestion that you invite you mother to read here so that she can see that all these people support her.

I realize she follows your blog and it makes sense that she’d read there, but until people here get to know you it might be good to ask her to read your posts here also.

I do hope you enjoy FR and the people here. I find a lot of support and other folks feeling the same way I am about the way things are not only politically, but in other areas also! I find the empathy, camaraderie, support and just plain caring very nice. All the FReepers I’ve met in real life have been very good, solid people with high morals and lots of love and faith for this country. So bear with us as you find your footing here ~ I think it will be worth it to you.

I figure the Blogger section was for articles like this. I spend a lot of time writing my articles and it nice to see people read them. I will also post some stuff in the breaking news actually linking back to a “real news” report. Although I think the “real news” is bogus!

You are correct, other threads point back to other blogs. This is not an ultimatum, it is more a matter of understanding the community and how things are done here.

There are many of the over 300,000 registered FR users that don't understand how things work here and we are working on fixing that.

If you establish your conservative "credentials" here for awhile and maybe put your blog URL in your signature or tagline in a secondary way then I think nobody would say a word. What has happened though, and why we're talking about this openly, is that you joined up and just established a route to your blog and invited FReepers to leave the FR site without (as I read in your history) really engaging much in the conversations here.

This is not a generational issue. We have FReepers of all ages, this is a family site. It is a matter of understanding propriety as defined by the owner of this large and very successful site Jim Robinson.

At worst, if it is true that it isn't worth it to you to join the FR community for its own sake and it only makes sense if we are some sort of advertising venue for you then perhaps you *would* feel better at another site.

I hope not.

Again, you can link to your own Blog and you’re right, many link to their own Blog on this forum called BLOGGERS AND PERSONAL.

I’d offer two suggestions, well three actually but you already did one...contribute to the Quarterly Freepathons as this site does not advertise and the money keeps it running.

Besides that, don’t over-do it. It’s called “spam” and we all know what spam is. Prudence is often a cherished trait.

Second, become a commenting participant in the threads in News/Activism and the Breaking news threads. If you’re a Blogger than we’ll assume you have some blessing of the English language.

Don’t just post your Blog site link and run is what I’m saying here. Plus sharing your comments and thoughts on the threads will also drive people to your Blog.

I’m a Blogger myself. It’s a disease; it’s demented.

It sounds like you’ll do fine but get a thick skin. Like someone else pointed out upthread, FreeRepublic gets a lot of nefarious infiltration and over time many of us, including my own fine self, have gotten a bit defensive, perhaps too quick to excoriate.

There are plenty of Blogger Freepers but understand that if one’s only participation is to post links to a Blog it’s just not received well.

Still I preach to a choir of sorts. It sounds like you’ve got the idea.

We used to have mor-or-less compulsory campaigns at work to get pledges for the United Way. I think the Red Cross was not part of the campaign, but someone commented that many World War 2 veterans had forgiven the Germans and Japanese, but they would never forgive the American Red Cross!

I try to participate as much as possible. I have been reading things here without registering for about a month now. I heard about from ExZonie.

Sometimes you will see me post articles that are not even written by me. I try to attract other GenXers to my site, and I try my best to get their stories heard. You can trust I don’t advertise on MyFreePress and the purpose is simply to give people in my generation a voice.

I just tend to not like the Breaking News as reported by news casters, I think they are FULL of it, and don’t tell the whole story. You will probably see me more involved in the blogger section since I trust my fellow Americans more then the media
